No angle would change the fact he clearly got hit in his face, and went down right after. He wasn't hurt like the kds in the latter rounds, and it was a flash, but Wilder should've been awarded a kd.

The angle makes a huge difference. Sky showed another reply and the punch didn't really look like it did much. Ortiz was clearly off balance for that one. Let's be real.

And if the ref calls it no knockdown and the dummy next to you scored it 10-8 He's ******ed. Did he also score the big Ortiz round 10-8 Even though Wilder didn't go down?
Loool exactly. Who is this poster claiming he was in press Row and what kind of journalist who knows the sport scores a round 10-8 even though the ref ruled no kd.

        These people can't stop lying.

THIS is a thread about the fact that the judges had Wilder a round or 2 up going into the 10th round. If Wilder never got the stoppage, they were planning on robbing Ortiz on the cards...I mean WTF!!!!

This is the yet another big fight in the US with judges being bought out. I can't think of a single high profile bout in recent times where this hasnt happened (GGG/Canelo, Kov/Ward all come to mind). This **** is getting out of hand.

Ban the sport in the US if it continues.

I don't bet on boxing and the older i get the more i do not consider the judges when evaluating a fighter. If you read my prediction for this fight I thought it would be a decision where the judges robbed Ortiz...Its so bad that one can basically predict who the judges will give it to, regardless of how the fighters do in the ring.

Luckily this one did not go to the cards...its getting worse and worse when one can know with certainty the judges are biased.

It doesnt really matter much now, but I had it 86 - 83 through 9.

I can see one of the first 4 to Wilder which would make it 85 - 84

Cant see any more than that.

Finding 2 more to give to Wilder to get the judges scores is very difficult.

It is getting worse but I can watch a fight in the UK, Germany, East Europe and be fairly certain the judges will do a good job. It wasn't always the case but something has happened to improve it. Maybe because there are so many high profile boxers in the continent now.

THE US has a serious problem and a lot of it is based on TV networks trying to hold onto limited resources. Very limited resources.

Like one of the posters said, if one judge had scored it for wilder you'd just shrug. But all three, finding him 2 more rounds for wilder? That's su****ious and just goes to show he'd never lose.

Its good that he got the stoppage.

Oh Christ. Are you actually arguing it was a “movie punch”??

                AJ fanboys...

                  I see your point.

You are the rule hound so I trust your understanding. My understanding is that regardless of whether a fighter slips, tangles, flies by an act of God... If a punch touches a fighter and the fighter falls the punch caused the knockdown. In that sequence it is obvious Ortiz got hit with a jab, so... a ref would have to assume the punch caused the knockdown.

Is that correct? or does the ref have the discetion to say the punch even though it landed clean and the fighter fell, was caused by a slip? Either way that punch IMO caused the fall. But I don't know if one could call that a 10-8 round.

                  Thoughts?

I'm not sure I've seen a worse 40-0 fighter ever in boxing.

That said, I love the guys attitude and personality and I'm rooting for him to unify the division in the next year
I agree with all you said.

You don't see their feet from that gif. Wilder didn't complain at all about that. I think maybe they touched their feet. (Southpaw vs orthodox).
