Please for the sake of boxing do something about this!!
1000% agree with this. Commissions SHOULD be taking action on bad scorecards not bad decisions. Bad decisions don't happen THAT f#cking much, but bad scorecards happen on maybe 60%-80% of fights & thats a fixable problem.

That said what round was wrong on these guys scorecards?

All the judges agreed in EVERY round except the 2nd thru 4th where Ortiz landed 19 punches in 9 minutes & Wilder landed 18 punches in 9 minutes. I don't think a guy should win a round cuz he's walking forward not doing much. And neither should the guy walking backwards not doing much, but if you liked it one way or the other the one thing is those are FOR SURE disputable rounds cuz nothing f#cking happened to say either guy clearly won those rounds.

For one thing, it is very difficult to find impartial judges. It's safe to assume that these judges are first and foremost boxing fans themselves. How many members here to we see objectively scoring fights that go against their favorite fighter? Very few. Add corruption into the mix and this is just more incentive for fighters to do more to ensure the outcome isn't left in the hands of the judges.

Yeah, I looked at the scorecards prior to the stoppage they were absolutely shocking, Wilder won rounds only in the ones he landed knockdowns in.

You can see he buckled Ortiz with back to back right hands before getting caught himself. But even when Wilder was hurt he did a great job of tying Ortiz up and making him miss. No 10-8 for me.

all this "the first four round nothing happened" crap is just that, crap.

there are four criterias for scoring pro boxing. clean effective punching, ring generalship, defense and effective aggression.

if you look at all those criterias, in other words score correctly, it was perfectly clear Ortiz was winning. maybe you could give one to wilder, but it would be a stretch to do so imo.

Ortiz should have been comfortably ahead on all cards.
Yea i dont see this argument from some fans. They keep saying nothing happened, but ortiz was putting pressure on wilder and hitting him with the jab. He was controlling the fight wilder literally wasnt even throwing anything but pawing jabs. He got outworked and out pressured.

To me going into the 6th round ortiz was up 4-1

In that sequence it is obvious Ortiz got hit with a jab, so... a ref would have to assume the punch caused the knockdown.
Correct. That was 100% a knockdown. The ref was simply out of position and didn't see it.

Is that correct? or does the ref have the discetion to say the punch even though it landed clean and the fighter fell, was caused by a slip? Either way that punch IMO caused the fall. But I don't know if one could call that a 10-8 round.
Yes that is correct. The ref has to rule that sequence a knockdown if they see the punch. And if there is an official knockdown, the round should be scored 10-8 if you had Wilder winning the round. I would have scored it 10-8 Wilder had the knockdown been called. As is, I had it 10-9 Wilder, but the knockdown may have played subconsciously in my scoring of the round to Wilder.

Either way the right man was ahead, Wilder did get robbed of that knock down. I also noticed the commentators not acknowledging some of Wilder's repeated right hands but were going ape shyt over Ortiz' missed punches.
On point with both of these.

It's sad, but, it's true. Wilder deserves a ton of credit for his effort - got knocked into next Tuesday but recovered and finished a tough guy. That takes heart.

But, it's hard not to look at the fact that the Judges had him up on the cards, when it was reasonably clear that he shouldn't have been.

It doesn't take a genius to see that a number of influential people had a lot to lose if Ortiz beat Wilder. It would have been damaging. And that is exactly why you see the cards leaning towards Wilder unfairly.

This is a great example of how Boxing is more business, than sport.
