Exactly the point I was about to make - this guy served a punishment for PEDs. Got a title shot WHICH WBC SANCTIONED. Came in clean, did everything he was supposed to do there. Missed weight - so he lost the title on the scale (punishment).
Why is he being suspended? No, the weight advantage isn't necessarily good, but he was punished for it. Losing the title = losing money.
If they were really upset about it why let the fight go on?
And another thing - if this is such a problem why when Nick Walters did the same crap against Lomachenko, same punishment, stripped of the title on the scale, yet he was allowed to continue without suspension? I see that was WBA, not WBC, which makes it even more suspect.
Is it only a problem when WBC's favored fighter gets manhandled but not if they win? So if Yamanaka had won, they would let Nery off the hook?
I smell a rat here. And not one that Rungvisai is eating. BS
Fighters miss weight all the time, I can’t understand why a fighter is being banned for missing weight. It’s just petty and pathetic IMO. The WBC just look hypocritical as well Julio Cesar Chavez Jr has continually messed fighters around and disadvantaged opponents with missing weight and the WBC have continually supported him throughout his career.Comment

I hope it's not only a 3-months or 6-months suspension. This unprofessional boxer should be disciplined hard.Comment

New rule: in a title fight, if you don't make weight, you forfeit half of your purse to your opponent. Thoughts?Comment

Gtfo with that bs. If the WBC was so concerned they shoulda called off the fight.
This weight sh^t is ALWAYS going to be a problem like it or not. And sometimes mfers will abuse the system or sometimes have legit trouble making weight. It is what it is. It comes with this business. But suspending a guy you let fight after he was overweight is some bullsh^t.
I got no problem with taking idk 90%(?) of a mfers purse to force THEM into the awkward position of fighting for a lot less (vs the 20%-ish thats a typical penalty these days I believe) or opting out cuz it is a sh^tty situation for the guy who was able to make weight or followed the rules w/e the case so maybe that sh^tty situation should be put upon the offender instead of the defender.
But suspending a guy over this seems silly & like some butthurt sh^t. I feel like if it'd have been a close decision or something instead of a destruction he'd not have been suspended here cuz we've all seen this happen before & no one gets suspended.Comment
