there's not a ref in boxing who will stop the fight and take a point away after that punch lands. this is professional boxing. nobody is taking out a ruler and seeing if shots land behind the ear by a couple of MM or not. rabbit punches target the back of the head. it's the part of the head that you can't see when your opponent is squared up and boxing. that is not where this punch is aimed or where it lands.



if you want to see a rabbit punch, watch marcos maidana in his fight with victor ortiz. literally reaches around the back of ortiz' head to rabbit punch on the opposite side.

Its illegal to hit behind the head but I would of counted it as a landed punch.

Looks to me like they both landed the same shot. First Alvarez and then Golovkin. Probably both could have been called foul by a ref looking for the spotlight. Tempest in a tea cup.

Robbie it is an illegal punch but it's hard to tell in full speed when they are fighting. I wouldn't sweat it. I counted it as a punch when I saw the fight.

man, what an egregious foul...they should just ban all hooks and looping shots just to be safe. in fact, all movement which could lead to the side/back of head being exposed should be outlawed. boxing should be just moving forwards and backwards with straight punches only, and no bobbing/weaving/rolling under shots either.
