He no longer needs Oscar. His brand is big enough to not need a promoter especially after he beats GGG convincingly in the rematch. Also HBO/Golden Boy has no big fights after this GGG rematch. In Showtime/Al Haymon, Canelo could sell PPV's fighting the likes of Errol Spence, Keith Thurman, Charlo Bros, and Billy Joe Saunders.

All he really needs to do, imo anyway, is to fight a promoter is find a promoter who can stage his events for him in NV/TX/CA/NY, with Chepo Reynoso handling the lead for the events in Mexico (if he ever fights in Mexico again).
Oscar brings ill will, which limits the options for fights, but there doesn't seem to be any ill will from anyone when it comes to Eric Gomez (though he does get residual heat from simply being close to Oscar).
Let the Golden Boy deal run out, hire Eric Gomez to be the chief operator for Canelo Promotions, and have Gomez and Haymon talk together, to see if they can end up doing good business together.

I was a fan of what I thought Haymon was doing, but based on what I've seen the last 3 years Haymon would be having Canelo fighting on the Saturday before Easter & in December each year. And have him fighting in Connecticut or some sh^t.
I think I trust Eric Gomez with running Canelo's career right now. If Canelo wants to do his own thing, which I wouldn't think is a bad idea he definitely shouldn't sign with Haymon cuz the top guys don't fight enough & there is nothing Haymon is gonna help with that he couldn't do with some sorta freelance fight by fight deal with a non-GBP promoter or GBP themselves just on a fight by fight deal vs some 3 year contract.
Any big name, big draw guy like Canelo & Joshua should be doing their own thing as soon as they can. They are leaving money on the table by not following the Mayweather blueprint & getting that hot dog & beer back end money on top of what they are getting now. Both those guys have the potential to have 100M+ paydays in their careers if they keep winning & keep it moving forward.

what could they possibly do for him? showtime has less viewers than hbo and haymon isnt a promoter. canelo already has the hbo platform and his 2 dates a year on the mexican holidays. why would he need haymon? once you have a built in fanbase you suck them dry. hes currently in the sucking process. just sit back and collect that money. they will never let him lose

Lmao. First off he not beating golovkin. Unless scorecard robbery like first fight. Secondly he already only fights twice a yr. Why you trying turn him into a once a yr or once every 17 months fighter. Third, thurman, spence are ww. And forth, charlo only beaten one mw and he was one legged. And last, winner probably faces BJS next anyhow. Sounds kinda like you just wanting some ppv action for a haymon guy. Gotta work for that
