    Wbc

Should have stripped Supershi- along time ago.

Really... I did have respect for the WBC in years past..

Seems they went the way of Flims & flams.

I grew up with great boxing..Before fools paid for it.

Best boxing was the super six.. But this last show on

HBO hit it out of the park.

As for Kovelev... He surely won the first fight. You don't take a mans belts ....buy coming back & trying.

The second one...Kovelev ..His mouth deserved low blows...Nobody should speak that way..Ward has children.

I can't stand to watch wards fights... But I respect Ward as a man.

          Jack
          Stevenson
          Kovalev
          Bivol
          Beterbiev
          Gvodzyk
          Maybe Joe Smith
          Maybe Barerra

Sad thing is I actually don't think it'll happen. We've already seen that Arum is not working with HBO so that may rule out Gvodzyk and the newly signed Beterbiev. Jack has said he wanted to face Kovalev, but will his promoter let him? We already know about Stevensons issues. So we're left with Kovalev and Bivol as the only 2 elite guys left, in other words the tournament would be pointless.
          +1

There are so many great fights to be made at 175.

Everybody sued Haymon. It was about much more than Kovalev-Stevenson. It was about Haymon allegedly breaking the Ali Act, and sitting on dates and arenas. Trying to monopolize everyone else out. Maybe you should spend more time writing about Al Haymon's bs, such as that. Or haven't you ever thought about that?

she says "there is no way we can work out a deal with another fight coming up"....but ANDRE WARD AND HER HAD A DEAL NEARLY 1 YEAR BEFORE THE WARD KOV FIGHT HAPPENED
If Stevenson wanted to fight Kovalev, why didn't he just wait for the purse bid? Why mess it up by getting the WBC to move it up basically an UNPRECEDENTED amount of time?

And as usual, you fail to understand nuance. Kovalev and Ward MADE A DEAL a year in advance. A PERCENTAGE based deal. That's way different than having to put up COLD HARD CASH a year in advance at a purse bid. How is it possible you are incapable of understanding such basic nuances?

The second purse bid was still before Kovalev's fight, wasn't it? In any case, you are the one who mentioned she was going to get Russian financing, right? Then you should know Team Stevenson moved the purse bid up before Kovalev could get that sorted out. Hmmm why would they do that? THEY killed the purse bid, and therefore the fight, when they did that. Hmmm why??? Why were they always finding ways to **** up the fight? Why was it always Team Kovalev trying to make the fight, and Team Stevenson finding ways to kill it? Hmmm.

These are questions people with brains ask. Carry on.

Showtime and HBO have never done a co-PPV for a fight that small, relatively speaking. Stevenson also hasn't fought on Showtime in years so why would they need to be involved? Stevenson has no contract with Showtime. Kovalev has one with HBO.

How do you know she didn't talk to HBO? She wanted to renew her contract with HBO. Even if there's only a 10% chance Kovalev gets knocked out by Stevenson on Showtime, there goes the HBO contract of Duva's only HBO main event boxer. Stevenson on the other hand has no Showtime contract. He's also only one of many Haymon boxers who can make main events. HBO also has a bigger audience than Showtime. I thought PBC was all about bringing boxing to a bigger audience? What happened to that lmao??? All you do is contradict yourself.

[QUOTE=My Low Place;18522770]6. IN RECENT INTERVIEW SHE CLAIMS STEVENSON HAS DUCKED FOR TOO LONG, and she wont even bother chasing him bc kovlaev has better opponents like the unproven beterbiev and bivol...

..basically kathy has used one thing on stevenson that isnt even real issue to continue acting like kovalev is his master...the fact that adonis went to showtime after hbo refused to offer him good money..showtime offered adonis good money, and he took it back to hbo (unlike kathy) and said "HBO IF YOU MATCH THIS OFFER I WILL SIGN WITH YOU"
              [QUOTE]

HBO did offer Stevenson good money. He just kept coming back with more and more demands. They had a deal agreed to, as shown by the Duva/Michel emails. Stevenson's promoter agreed to the fight. Kovalev's promoter agreed to the fight. Kovalev agreed to the fight. ALL OF THAT is confirmed in the emails. EVERYONE but the two biggest duckers in boxing, Adonis Chickenson and Al Haymon, agreed to the fight. Those are the facts! It was a good enough deal for Stevenson's promoter, it was good enough for Kovalev and his promoter. If Stevenson had really wanted the fight, it would have been good enough for him. But Haymon at that time didn't want to make good fights, he just wanted to monopolize every division, and squeeze everyone else out.

Kovalov fought the P4P #1 for practically nothing. So I doubt he would duck Stevenson for actual $$$$

Kovalev Promoter on Possibility of Facing Stevenson-Jack Winner

WBO light heavyweight titlist Sergey Kovalev (31-3-1, 27 KOs) faces Igor Mikhalkin at the Theater of New York's Madison Square Garden in what will be the main event on HBO this Saturday night.

On May 19th in Canada, WBC champion Adonis Stevenson will defend his belt against former super middleweight titlist Badou Jack, on Showtime.

Kovalev and Stevenson were seemingly on a collision course in 2014 before Stevenson signed on with adviser Al Haymon and joined the Premier Boxing Champions. Kovalev is a staple of HBO, which made a match-up with the two almost impossible to make.
                      • Tue Feb 18, 2014 Adonis Stevenson signed with powerful adviser Al Haymon. Stevenson signed the papers in Calabasas California with Sam Watson.
                      • Tue Mar 25, 2014 Adonis Stevenson got "a better offer" from Showtime than HBO, which opted not to renegotiate its deal with Stevenson.
                      • Wed Mar 26, 2014 Sergey Kovalev signed a 1 year agreement with HBO. The papers were presented by director of programming Peter Nelson.
                      • Sat Mar 07, 2015 Premier Boxing Champions original release card was broadcast by NBC.

So in 2018, would a unification bout between Kovalev and the winner of Stevenson-Jack be a non-starter given the politics involved?
                      • Wed Feb 03, 2016 Showtime Sports Executive Vice President and General Manager Stephen Espinoza said, ‘If it’s a pay-per-view, I’d like to be involved.’ There’s a template, not long ago – and I know it’s not as big as Mayweather-Pacquiao – but there would be a good collaboration between the two networks where the allegiances of the fighters are one group or the other.”

"I don't think it should be a non-starter with Badou Jack,'' said Main Events CEO Kathy Duva, who promotes Kovalev, to BoxingScene.com.

"I don't see why it would be. As far as Stevenson is concerned my belief if he just doesn't want to fight Sergey. I don't think it has anything to do with network alliances. That's a load of crap, I call BS on that because the fact is he had gone a period of close to three years without fighting on Showtime. I mean, that's not the problem."

                      • Tue May 06, 2014 Stephen Espinoza, the executive vice president and general manager of Showtime Sports and Event Programming, told TSS editor Michael Woods that he’d love to stage a Stevenson-Kovalev fight, provided Stevenson survives a unification match with ageless wonder Hopkins, hardly a given. “If Kovalev’s available,” he said. “Except for some reason Kathy Duva seems interested only in HBO and not maximizing revenues.”
                      • Fri Mar 06, 2015 Haymon PBC, reached multi-year deals with NBC Sports (NBC and NBCSN), Viacom (Spike), CBS Sports (CBS, CBS Sports Network) and Bounce TV to air PBC cards through their outlets on either weekend afternoons or in prime time; in conjunction with sister premium network Showtime.

There's no doubt who Duva is pulling for in this contest.
                      • Badou Jack

"Sooner or later, this guy is winding his way to 41, he's going to lose a fight to somebody, maybe it will be Jack," she said with a chuckle.
                      • Duva's still hopes Adonis Stevenson loses in the process

"We wish Jack all the best, he gets that WBC title and becomes the linear champion, I believe he will have an obligation to fight Oleksandr Gvozdyk next.
                      • For Duva, lets talk about fighting the winner, but hoping to meet chiny Gvozdyk

"But we would certainly be very willing to talk to them about perhaps doing a unification first and fighting Sergey."
                      • After Kovalev back to back losses, lets play again with people perception, by pursuing our technic of inferiorizing Stevenson's name. Just to create a way for Sergey to make several easier defenses, while reducing any risk by waiting for only one unified champion to come to him, like he was the highest ranked Champion in the division.
                        Which he's not...
