Bellew fought the most active Heavyweight in Haye with an ankle injury. That’s legendary! Eubank fought a current Champion.
Bellew was a blown up light heavy, who won a cruiserweight title against a dangerous fighter, and then fought a heavyweight who was supposed to knock him out way before the round that Haye hurt he's ankle in. Eubank has fought two world level fighters, and lost both after announcing himself as a class above both. Even against a one armed man he couldn't get a stoppage. HOF level performance.
One thing I would say though and in agreement with Hearn is that he has gotten quite far with lets face it, limited skills.
He has all the tangible and intangible assets that any great fighter needs... Stamina, speed, decent power, grit, heart etc...
If he had a good trainer who know's where he'd be. At 28 it may not be too late to implement some of the fundamentals needed to go far.
It’s not really too late at 28 to be fair, it’s not like he’s had wars that have chopped away at him and diminished any decent prime years he may have and his longitude. BUT, the man is too arrogant. There is no way he will show face enough to admit this because it would mean taking down the veil he has d****d himself and his image in.
Rather than carry the Eubank legend on so heavily in favour of his dad, he should have done it his own way, the proper way.
Too late to change his personality though, that Eubank image is what he has to run with now. He’ll realise his wrongdoings in approach but when it is too late.
Refusal to be taught will cap his level where he is. British/Euro level.
