I ****** too, got Sling. Bought the Showtime app just for the boxing.

I did not realize this. This really doesn't say anything then. I'm not paying over $50 a month for cable that I hardly ever watch, but $10 a month for Showtime boxing is def. worth it.

So we have no idea how many people actually watched it. Just that it was considerably more than whatever was reported. I feel duped.
Sling is the way to go lol you can even record now

It has to do with whether Nielsen considers you to be watching the linear feed of the channel. When you add Showtime to Sling, Sling is considered your "cable package" and Showtime is considered a linear channel on that package, so it is counted.

When you watch on Showtime Anytime, even though Showtime Anytime added a live feed, you're watching directly through the on demand app, not your cable/satellite company, so it's not counted.

This is why HBO GO doesn't allow live fights. They want to protect the Nielsen number. HBO GO even makes you wait several days before you can watch on demand and they never upload the entire broadcast. HBO wants to make it as inconvenient as possible to watch in any way that Nielsen doesn't count.

That is why HBO's numbers are artificially high and Showtime's are artificially low. There are numerous examples of ways you can watch Showtime fights that won't be counted by Nielsen, but HBO blocks those viewing methods because they want to force you to watch in a way Nielsen measures.
Huh, that is crazy. That does help explain higher numbers for crappier cards on hbo.

So if I want to watch hbo boxing, I have to pay for cable and hbo? While yea, of course hbo are gonna have higher numbers than showtime if this is what they do. So the numbers for hbo are correct and the numbers for showtime, doesn't count millions of people with showtime.

No wonder hbo can't afford to have decent boxers anymore. Boxing fans don't waste money for their app if they can't watch boxing on it anyway.

Or maybe the networks don’t value only ratings when it comes to success like the fanboys. It’s obvious they’re doing something right because the budget keeps getting larger and Espinoza keeps getting promotions. You now have fights on ESPN. You can thank Al Haymon for that. Could also argue Mayweather Mcgregor brought in more fans.

As for the fight being trash, I found the fight to be very enjoyable. Rios gave a better effort than expected, Garcia took his time tearing him down, then beautifully and brutally knocked him out. If you're a Garcia fan, it was good to see him back knocking off some rust and putting in a good performance.
your a bi.tch . this fight was a sham you POS.... i swear you cool being a shill for your INCOME but you a bi.tch real talk , have a nice day bi.tch

The hardcore boxing fanbase for the most part will always find fights no matter the network.

But I imagine that casual fans are completely lost with the current boxing structure. HBO used to be the go-to channel for big fights but now it's full of dreck, the action has moved to Showtime (and to a lesser extent ESPN.)

It takes time for the masses to catch on and get into the routine again.

Who care about the damn numbers. Boxing is the only sport where "fans" argue over ratings, networks, ppv buys & promoters. You got guys purposely not tuning into fights because of what network it's on or who's promoting it and talking about #TeamShowtine #TeamHBO #PBC #FVvCKHaymon etc. A true BOXING fan only cares about BOXING not all this other irrelevant ****.

I say fucc the networks fucc the promoters put these guys all one channel under one promoter like the NFL or the NBA !!!

And here I thought Danny Garcia was the biggest draw of the division. LOL LOL LOL. People will do mental gymnastics as to why he drew less than Errol Spence, but fans are starting to support the fighters who legitimately want to fight in competitive fights. I like Danny Garcia, but we need the quality to get up there. We are not just going to watch you fight punch drunk fighters and keep viewership.

I have SlingTV also. I had FiOS and was tired of paying millions of dollars.

Plus with Sling you pick what channels you want. I have Showtime and HBO along with NBA Network.

If you want to watch live, yes, or subscribe to an internet TV service counted by Nielsen and then add HBO.

But HBO won't let you watch live on their apps. They'll allow you to watch live on stuff like DirecTV Everywhere because that is counted by Nielsen.

But if you want to watch on their app, you usually have to wait until Tuesday the next week, and they just put the fight itself up, bell to bell. They don't allow you to watch the entire broadcast. Showtime allows you to watch live, or on demand quickly thereafter and Showtime makes the entire broadcast available on demand.
