Thurman look like he is in no rush to fight anybody of note. I am not interested in the rematches that he might get because in my opinion he won them both.

Also Thurman knows that he is the guy that everybody wants so he can sit back and pick his opponent. Horn got a robbery decision against Pac and more than likely won't survive Crawford. Horn will take those big paying fights anytime.

He loses to Vargas, he isn't getting a rematch or Spence. If Swift loses to Spence, hey he just lost to a real killer and #1 p4p. No shame in that. He can go from that to a fight with Vargas or Porter. But a loss to someone like Vargas or Khan ruins DSG's career.
Danny is better than Jessie Vargas, though; it's pretty clear that Errol Spence Jr may actually be the clear top dog at the weight.

Danny gets to fighting twice a year, with the Thurman fight due by Summer 2019.

The only way that Thurman, Porter, or Garcia earnestly start talking about Spence as a fight that you don't need to force them into would be if Spence packs in the arena in Dallas.

No one loss ruins anyone's career as long as the fight was a good one.

Ugas is the IBF #2 (willing to take the fight), with Ocampo and his camp keeping silent on the whole thing.

IBF offers the shot to whomever is their top challenger, going down their list until some fighter accepts

The IBF already ordered the fight. Are you saying Ocampo is going to refuse to accept? The IBF doesn't allow step asides. It's possible Spence could file for an exemption to fight someone else in June and then Ocampo at the end of the year. No idea if Peoples would approve.

Spence is at really bad spot right now. Nobody wants to step up to fight him, everyone wants to fight Keith Thurman because he's the lower risk higher reward fight. And to make matters even worse, the list of top ranked contenders for the IBF is laughable:

            1. NOT RATED
            2. NOT RATED
            3. Carlos Ocampo
            4. Jessie Vargas
            5. Bradley Skeete
            6. Devon Alexander
            7. Qudratillo Abduqaxorov
            8. Keita Obara
            9. Konstantin Ponomarev
            10. Rashidi Ellis
            11. Ray Robinson
            12. Zhankhozh Turarov
            13. Carlos Molina
            14. Yordenis Ugas
            15. Laszlo Toth

Who the hell can he fight? I don't think Jessie Vargas would be seriously interested in the fight, so if they can't fight Jessie I don't know who else they can fight. Ocampo? Ugas, these guys are all food for Errol and they won't help his popularity. Sad sad state of affairs man, you win a title and think you finally made it, next thing you know you're taking layoffs because nobody wants to fight you.

Ponamarev was supposed to get the chance to fight Spence on a few occasions as the #1, and made it absolutely clear that he wanted no part of that fight.

I don't know who is in Ocampo's camp, but to argue as if such a thing couldn't happen is a mistake.

No no, I'm not saying it CAN'T happen. I'm just asking you if you think it WILL happen.

DSG is fighting Spence later this year.

I appear to be the only person on here who knows this. When the fight is announced or actually takes place- in 2018- I expect all kinds of green. DSG has never talked much at all, never really called anyone out or anything. He's also never said no to a fight.

DSG would most likely not get Thurman in summer of 2019 anyway. After Porter rematch Thurman takes an easy stay-busy fight or the mega-fight with Spence. Then what for DSG? He will have waited for a year and a half, two years for his mandatory shot but by the time he gets it, Spence has the title anyway.

DSG has a few options. First, wait forever and hope that Thurman fights him while Thurman still has a belt. Two, he could fight Spence this year. Three, he can fight a bum late this year and the loser of Thurman-Porter II next year.

Also, what would make more money? To have Thurman-Porter II, then Thurman-Garcia II then finally Thurman-Spence in 2020. Or to have Thurman-Porter II and Spence-Garcia late this year and a ppv clash between winners next year? Not to mention, the man in charge of all this- Haymon- needs to keep the #1 p4p fighter Spence happy. Spence wants the big names. He is not going to be happy and stay with Haymon if Peterson is the biggest and best opponent he gets for the next two years.

Haymon will do whatever is necessary for Spence and Mikey to stay with him. Those are the two with superstar and dollar signs written all over them.

Notice how quiet Garcia's dad was during the post-fight scuffle. Less posturing. I think the loss did the Garcia's some good with more focus and maturity and less time for gimmicks.

                      Care to wager?

Look at the rankings. Clearly Haymon is lining up Danny to become unified WBC/WBA mandatory, so that when he fights the Thurman/Spence winner, it'll clear two mandatories at once.
