You know this, I know this, and I'm sure ESPN knows this.
And we all knew Canelo was gonna fight someone on May 5th on ppv.
So why would ESPN schedule a fight on May 12th when they know that's the day HBO pairs the replay with another fight??
its a replay lol. Not a live fight lol. You can watch DVR the replay and watch the live card first. Especially since u probably already bought the Canelo ggg rematch and aren’t worried about a replay too Much. HBO sometimes just shows the replay of a ppv without a live fight card to go with it

same reason that the posters seem to take what the fighters purse percentage is personally.

I don't know what that reason is yet, but I'll figure it out...

How many dates is Golden Boy allowed to monopolize? There are four Saturdays in a month. There are three major boxing en****** in the US. HBO is the least important of the three.

Yet GB's position is, "well, we can't do it April 28, because we have a PPV the next week, and we also can't do it May 5 because of the PPV, but also, we can't do it May 12 either because of the PPV."

They expect to block off three Saturdays in a row without competition when there are only four Saturdays in a month and HBO is by far the weakest of the three big boxing umbrellas in the US?

That's the real key factor here that too many are ignoring. GB isn't just blocking May 12. They're blocking May 5 and April 28 too. They're asking for the boxing world to go on hold for three weeks in a row. It's ridiculous.

You might not care for the replay but some people do. I do sometimes.
I've been to a few Canelo fights in Vegas so I don't get to watch it on TV till the following Sat cause obviously I'm not gonna order it on ppv if I'm gonna go watch the fight live. I'm still debating if I'm gonna go to the Canelo-Triple g fight.
But if I don't go then yes, I'll order the ppv fight and record it and won't need the replay.
But not everyone orders the ppv fight and they actually watch it for the first time the following Sat on the HBO replay.
So I know you don't care for it but Alot of people still do. So that's why HBO airs the replay.

skipping a fight because HBO is promoting a free replay of a ppv fight?

I'd say the real reaaon is more likely that Oscar won't be making much money as his beloved Linares getts destroyed again. That and having his favorite officials involved with his two favorite fighters takes spreading these two fights out.

I might go to if its in Vegas. Not a bad drive from LA bro.

My point is that to watch the replay on Saturday you don't have to watch it the second the replay airs since it isn't live and you know the results for a week. If it airs at 7 you can dvr on and watch Loma vs Linares live then the replay plus there is this fact. With or without Linares - Loma is fighting on May 12th so it is going to take views away from the replay for the exact same reasons I am stating, Canelo GGG is a replay and doesn't need to be seen the second it airs. Why not have those views go to their own fighter Linares on a big platform on ESPN after an NBA playoff game. Hell of a lead in and exposure for Linares

Okay I get what you're saying. And your absolutely correct. Everything you said makes sense.
Maybe ESPN should hire you as the middle man so you can convince HBO and Golden Boy promotions to let Linares fight on ESPN.... Lol
But I'm sure there's more to it than that. I'm sure Oscar's, Bob's, HBO and ESPN's ego is also playing a big part in these negotiations... They all wanna push their weight around. That sucks for us fans who wanna see the fight. Hopefully they can come to an agreement and let linares fight Loma soon. That's a great fight to make. I'm a fan of both guys but I think Loma is just too good for linares and he'll beat linares.

agreed bro. As long as they break me off I will be the middleman. I agree about the ego and I think the biggest problem is HBO. THey just dont want to see another one of their fighters leave
