Can't see how Eubank wins this, he's going to have to eat so many right hands just closing distance. I think Groves will land big in the first round and you will see Eubank's approach completely change. It will turn into a boxing match and Eubank will lose heavily at distance, he'll get stopped round about the halfway mark maybe earlier if his chin doesn't hold up to the jab and right hands he will be eating.

I've fancied Groves ever since the match up was announced and have enjoyed listening to his interviews in recent weeks. He's seemed really composed and confident. However, he came off worse at the final presser and looked almost uninterested.
I'm still backing Groves but will be interested to see how he is at the Weigh in. Friday should be interesting.Comment

Yeah I'm imagining it playing out in a similar way. I ****ing hope you're right. I can't stand Eubank, I don't see anything special in him apart from fast hands. His boxing skills and power are average. Can't see how Eubank wins this, he's going to have to eat so many right hands just closing distance. I think he's just over the pressers and ready to fight. Towards the end of his career, Floyd Mayweather would get like that.I've fancied Groves ever since the match up was announced and have enjoyed listening to his interviews in recent weeks. Trust me a good corner man can give you a leg up.It helps if he knows you and he has YOUR respect. My 1st few Am fights I had the trainer of the gym I used the most do my corner. He really was not a great trainer and prob worse corner man but then I had my brother for the rest(couple dozen or so)and it was BIG difference he knew what to say to either push me or settle me down whatever was needed and because I respected him I listened more.A corner man is not gonna help you beat a clearly better fighter but can be the diff in a well matched fight.I would rather have a guy I know(and respect) and knows me then E Steward. The best ones say very little and repeat it.When you hear guys start talking about 2-3 different things you start thinking "where do I start" and before you know the bell rings and you just go back to what you were doing.Esp in Ams where you only have 3 rounds.I've always wondered about the effect of actual in ring advice from a corner man. I've always thought it must be a better use of time to do some breathing exercises, get some water on board, treat any cuts and swelling, and maybe massage some limbs. And if all that's going on I doubt you're listening to anything.
I dunno though. I've never boxed. Just always strikes me as odd when you hear the boxer having to ask for some water. Happens all the time.
Quality sparring or lack thereof I'd imagine is a bigger issue than a lack of anyone in the corner I think.
Would like to hear from someone who 'laced 'em up' though. Because I am just using my experiences playing sport at amateur level and when I'm tired I'm not really listening to anyone. I certainly wouldn't take on board Virgil Hunter rattling of a novel outside the ring.
But I am always stunned when a fighter has to ask for water. That is unbelievable to me.Comment

I thought the same at final presser his eyes were darting all over and looked kinda intimidated. Now I don't put much stock in these most of time but I too am interested in weigh in.I've fancied Groves ever since the match up was announced and have enjoyed listening to his interviews in recent weeks. very true. Especially the end. Good luck making up points if you have a bad round. A good corner man can also see something or notice something that you don't during a fight, and relay that to you between rounds. A second set of eyes can be very helpful if a guy is unkowingly "calling" his punchesTrust me a good corner man can give you a leg up.It helps if he knows you and he has YOUR respect. The best ones say very little and repeat it.When you hear guys start talking about 2-3 different things you start thinking "where do I start" and before you know the bell rings and you just go back to what you were doing.Esp in Ams where you only have 3 rounds.Comment

Eubank doesn't have the style or shown anything to me that makes him competitive in this fight, I actually think Groves has the speed advantage at distance as well so his jab will be shooting out and he will beat Eubank to the punch on the outside. Eubank is not big or strong enough to compete inside either, Groves can just push him away or spin him to get distance.....I can't see how Eubank wins at all, usually I can make a case but not here.Comment

Yup but one thing I want to add is they cant be to tech. They gotta keep it simple and just try and make what you already do better or by calling out a mistake you have already been working on in gym.Trust me on this you will NEVER learn something NEW in corner. If your opp that's say is feinting you to body and getting you to drop right hand if that's something you have not worked on or have not been taught about already telling you will change NOTHING.very true.
