Comments Thread For: Groves: Eubank's Arrogant; Massive Difference in Our Opposition

George Groves senses some overconfidence in Chris Eubank Jr. a few days away from their British super middleweight showdown in Manchester. Groves considers Eubank's belief that he doesn't need assistance from his trainer, Ronnie Davies, or his legendary father, Chris Eubank Sr., to be signs that the younger Eubank is underestimating him and how difficult their fight will be. London's Groves (27-3, 20 KOs) will defend his WBA 168-pound championship against Brighton's Eubank (26-1, 20 KOs) at a sold-out Manchester Arena and the winner will advance to the World Boxing Super Series super middleweight final.

talk is cheap, groves looks worse for wear but has experience in his "massive opposition difference " that he almost lost every time..I got eubank by ud since it was announced but now I'm thinking groves might stop him or eubank use his speed intelligently and outsmart him..we'll find out on a saturday

NOBODY will be considered elite after this fight. The fringe is just taking care of loose ends. 168 sucks wind anyway.

Groves got less to lose here and is used to a big stage. Eubank has full faith in his ability and has said that Groves doesn't worry him which I'm sure is media talk. He won't be taking this lightly you'd hope.

junior eubanks and his daddy could have used some good corner help in his humiliating loss to BJS not that he could have won under any circumstances just to thick in the head to listen to any good advice

I've always wondered about the effect of actual in ring advice from a corner man. I've always thought it must be a better use of time to do some breathing exercises, get some water on board, treat any cuts and swelling, and maybe massage some limbs. And if all that's going on I doubt you're listening to anything.

I dunno though. I've never boxed. Just always strikes me as odd when you hear the boxer having to ask for some water. Happens all the time.

Quality sparring or lack thereof I'd imagine is a bigger issue than a lack of anyone in the corner I think.

Would like to hear from someone who 'laced 'em up' though. Because I am just using my experiences playing sport at amateur level and when I'm tired I'm not really listening to anyone. I certainly wouldn't take on board Virgil Hunter rattling of a novel outside the ring.

But I am always stunned when a fighter has to ask for water. That is unbelievable to me.

Groves is so damn proud of his big fights. Kinda surpising he didn't say "Froch knocked me out in front of 80,000 people at Wembley" at the press conference.

I actually think he did say that in one of them.

Groves is pretty self-deprecating to be fair to him.

Groves looked rattled in that press conference. Eubank has this in the bag.

Groves is a massive step up for Eubank.

Stylistically the closest fighter Eubank has fought to Groves was BJS. Groves has to gain his respect early, if not Eubank's cardio will take over and he'll overwhelm Groves.

I don't really think Eubank's recent fights have prepped him for this bout. You look at Abraham, that Turkish fighter, neither are anywhere close to Groves in quality and style.
