Maybe because of several impressive uppercuts from Canelo and a big right that made GGG lose his balance a little bit, as well as a combo of about eight straight punches in one of the latter rounds. But it was all very short-lived flashiness.

In the end, by the time I saw even more carefully the whole fight for the third time, I realized that GGG carried the burden of making the fight, 90% of the whole fight and he DID CONNECT a few harsh punches. Precisely the fact that Canelo moved his head constantly saying "no" without offering any meaningful counter-attack, proves that he did feel GGG's power. But both of them have super-durable chins, they are both very strong and fit boxers.

If anyone can KO the other one, is GGG KOing Canelo, not the other way around, that is for sure. This pretend strategy of saying that Canelo will go for the KO is just a prank probably to attract more PPVs. Good one. And maybe to confuse GGG's corner a little bit, but I'm sure they won't be tricked and change their strategy.

I don't plan on watching that fight again, because I was really disappointed on Canelo's attitude, and most especially to see yet another woman judge give him a ridiculous score that he wasn't even close to deserve, like that pathetic 118-110 he got vs. GGG or the 114-114 he got vs. Floyd, both scores were incredibly out of logic IMHO.

Surviving a whole fight, connecting a bunch of very good and flashy punches that didn't seem to bother the opponent at all, is not enough for a draw.

For the good of boxing I hope GGG knocks him down at least once, and gets a tight decision like he did vs. that huge Jacobs.

I am not a GGG fan, I've actually criticized how robotic he is in the past but honestly I don't see how Canelo could have gotten a draw in their 1st fight when all he did was survive a relentless attack from the opponent for 12 whole rounds, and BOTH OF THEM missed a lot. But at least GGG went for the victory the entire fight while Canelo speculated and retreated just too much.

I hope this time Canelo engages at least 50% of the fight and makes it a fight actually.
      Well said bro. I agree.

you don't get ANY points for that, and nor should you

that is not valid scoring criteria

forget Byrd..... one judge called it a draw, and the judge who scored it for Golovkin awarded him that fight by 1 solitary point

        defence IS valid scoring criteria

I think you got it right the first 2x you watched

Lemieux's attack on Saunders..... was relentless

        problem is, it was ineffective

I am with the old school judges, and with Deontay Wilder

aggression must be effective..... if not, then you likely got out-boxed

        and..... * in Wilder's voice *

..... you need to be the part, not look the part

Gennady is going to get hurt. You heard it first here.

People disregarding Ca$h hand issues and pillow gloves of the first fight. That won't be the case this time around. Look for Ca$h to be crisp and precise and stun/discourage Gennady on more than one occasion.

Picked up where he left off? He didn't do ****! GGG carried that entire fight. If it wasn't for him there wouldn't have been a fight. Fighting backwards, laying on the ropes, while fighting in spurts with a very low work rate and occasionally landing a counter combination every now and then, is not my definition of a place where he should pick up where he left off on GGG.

I predicted the 1st fight exactly how it went despite all the gggroupies saying that im full of sh about canelo outboxing ggg because he supposedly has "lead feet". I was the only person here saying that canelo would land everything at a high perct & would outbox ggg throughout with superior bodywork/skills/upper body moves/etc. Yet the gggroupies were claiming an easy ko & that ggg would supposedly fight him like lemule which was the exact opposite of what happened.

I'd give you Red K for this ****** comment and for red k'ing me earlier, but I unfortunately can't. What fight were you watching in september.

Your predicton fell flat on it's face if you based it on Canelo outboxing Golovkin. The reverse is actually true as I predicted. Canelo couldn't knock out Golovkin contrary to his boasts. Canelo sure as hell didn't outbox Golovkin. He had no answers for Golovkin's agression. He stayed on the ropes like an idiot while Golovkin happily piled up points. He couldn't take away Golovkin's jab. Couldn't take Golovkin to the ropes. Rarely forced Golovkin to back up and when he did it was only with his best and hardest combinations. G on the other hand forced Canelo back with his jab. A freaking jab for Christ's sake. You know the jab that you love to make fun of. That pitiful jab forced the big bad Canelo to stop punching and move to where Golovkin wanted him. . He couldn't sustain three minutes of combat. He got schooled by a 35 year old fighter past his prime. Can Canelo win a rematch? Possibly but he sure as hell lost the first fight.

So he'll only fight half of the first round I think we can safely assume then I suppose.
