Martinez's knee was 100% when he fought Pavlik. He didn't injure his knee until he fought JCC Jr. In fact he knocked out 4 straight opponents after beating Pavlik.

It doesn't seem like you know very much about boxing.
It is somewhat embarrassing for you to be so aggressive in disagreement to an utter stranger. Regardless, I give you the benefit of the doubt that you meant only to open a dialogue, otherwise, why would you waste your time? And we can continue this discussion.

I presume you have looked at Hopkins record after beating Pavlik. Drew with a severely limited and injured Pascal, got an undeserved MD in the second, had a questionably legitimate shoulder injury and went down weeping in the second against Dawson, then lost to Dawson...then beat Tavoris Cloud after splitting his eye by headbutting him in a closer fight than the gift scorecards showed. That's a little different than your vague and deliberately misleading statement that the proper champ continued his meteoric rise. Perhaps my perception is a bit different than yours, and I don't need to question your boxing IQ like an insecure child...no, real grown ups can simply state their opinion and accept other people might disagree. There's a lesson in there.

And what of the irony in your shutting up and offering no counter after a big rant in which you puffed out your chest? I imagine you as a very small man shouting profanities jumping and stand on his tiptoes over the shoulders of his friends and running away, wet spot on the back of his pants when a fight breaks out.

Just remember what Hopkins did to Pavlik people. Mad respect to Pavlik of course but damn B-Hop at 43 tapped that all night.

I concur. Moreover, Pavlik destroyed the same Jermain Taylor who had already beaten Hopkins (though questionably).

One cannot diminish a fighter's stature on the basis of a lone bad night (in this case, Pavlik vs Hopkins). Should Roberto Duran be diminished for the No Mas fight and the knockout suffered by Thomas Hearns?

I'm not saying Pavlik was on the same level of Duran. But he was a deserving titleholder who always delivered exciting fights.

And, while we're at it, for me Iran Barkley belongs in the HOF too.

Pavlik had balls. He was a big MW and gave us great fights. Anyone that can disrespect him is a #casual and knows nothing about the game. He may not be your favorite but he was awesome to watch and a good fighter.

I think Pavlik was a solid champion who did some clever cherrypicking of guys when they were kust past it enough to look legit, but this Pavlik love-fest is way over the top.
First it's vociferous. Next, Sergio was 100% for that fight and even at 43 the mutant, Hopkins was a world class fighter. They were fighting at a CW that was halfway to LHW a weight class that Hopkins would reside in shortly. #casual

The Hopkins fight was the beginning of the end for Pavlik. He never regained his footing after that. He was DAMN exciting to watch on the way up, and he destroyed Jermain Taylor when BHOP couldn't.

If Sergio's knees were at 25% during the time of the Pavlik fight, then Pavlik's hunger was at .2%.
