I've read many times that will to win and a never say die attitude can help a boxer prevail in ring. And this is glorified in the rocky films with mental strength overcoming superior technique. What's your opinion on this?
Is boxing more psychological then physical?

It is more mental imo...but you still gotta have the physical tools. mental is not just will, resolve or whatever...it's also focus, discipline etc. Boxing is a sport where small mistakes can be costly.Comment

That's makes perfect sense what your saying it's a combination of different thingsComment

A good attitude with the will to win and never give up is very helpful. It can't work miracles though. The other boxer wants to win too. If he is enough better than the Rocky type guy he will win the fight in real life. If anybody gets hit hard enough and often enough in the right place they are going to be knocked out no matter how strong their will to win may be.Comment

It's mostly psychological
The mindset is what makes you train hard, and 'live the life', and dedicate yourself to your craft. So, I'm talking about psychological factors as they play out way before fights even gets made. Being mentally tough 'on the night' is not gonna cut it
The outcomes of most fights are decided OUTSIDE the ring, with fighters continuously testing their soul and harnessing the desire to win. What makes for great fights is when you have 2 truly dedicated and gritty fighters willing to do whatever it takes. Doesn't happen a lot, unfortunately. We live in a world fascinated by comfortComment

More psychological yes.
Paulie Malignaggi is a good example, basically dude is not athletic at all.
I don't know of a world champion who is weak mentally.
I mean, just being a pro boxer takes a lot of courage and focus.Comment
