"He's a tremendous talent," Crawford told Yahoo Sports. "But, I do not rate him as the number one pound-for-pound. I do not rate him as the Fight of The Year. Why? Because when we sat down, and I said that if Lomachenko comes up two weight classes and fights me, and I beat him, none of you will give me credit - because ya'll are gonna say that I'm too big for him.

"Everybody at the table said 'yeah, you're probably right, but its just that fact that we want to see the fight.' So its a lose-lose situation for me, because I wouldn't get the credit for beating him. Even if I win, or I struggled to win or he did something to make the fight more interesting - then you will say 'you was getting beat by a little guy and the only reason you won is because you was big.'

"Fast forward to last year, he fought Rigondeaux and Rigondeaux came up two weight classes. We don't know how old he is. Everybody says he's old as ****. He hadn't fought..... he fought like two rounds in two years or something and didn't look good in those two rounds. And everybody gave him the credit for that win.

"That is double-standard, because ya'll wouldn't give me the credit [if I beat Lomachenko]. He didn't even give himself credit, and I have to respect that. He said that it wasn't [Rigondeaux's] weight so the win shouldn't be that high."

And Crawford was not impressed by Lomachenko two other wins in 2017 - which came against Sosa, who many regard as a tough brawler - and Marriaga, who moved up in weight to take the fight and was also coming off a clear loss to Oscar Valdez.

"When we go to Marriaga, it's another fighter coming up in weight and coming off a loss. How can you even have the justification to [to praise him for that], when the guy was never a world champion, never did anything in his career, never did anything in the amateurs, was coming up in weight, coming off a loss - and they make it seem like it was a gold medalist, like [Marriaga] was world champion and beat this guy and beat that guy. And then Jason Sosa, he was just a basic guy," Crawford said.

Remember when Crawford got fighter of the year for beating small Gamboa?
Bigger size difference in that fight than Loma-Rigo. People praised that win like crazy. Oh it's the fight of the year. You guys remember that? Crawford is amazing!!!
He also beat Beltran that year. You know that Beltran that people don't want to see Loma face, but it was perfectly fine for Bud to face him. Bud even got fighter of the year off that win and small Gamboa. Inactive too.

If Loma beats Beltran, Linares, and some else he may get fighter of the year again this year. It's way too early for that.
Bud is about to have another bad year, because he can't face any of the other top Welterweights.
And Spence will only get better from here.
Bud is about to fight Horn and Alvarado. Great year bud. Let's see him complain once he doesn't get fighter of the year for 2018.

Peter Nelson said the fights last week were 50/50 to. It's called promotion. He was promoting the fight of his stablemate

So you're upset that someone is giving THEIR opinion and you don't agree with it? That makes him shady?

Crawford, who is saulty upset for everybody's opinion about Loma's year achievements which Crawford doesn't agree with?
Or forum member who called Crawford shaddy for putting down Loma after him vouching for Crawford, not because he agrees or disagrees with anything?

Bud saying these things makes it sound like yes he his a bit sore for not getting the dong.
Even if what he sais is true it needs to be said by someone other than himself if he doesnt want to sound prickly.

Crawford deserved fighter of the year in 2014. He also went to Scotland and beat Burns easily. He got BWAA FOTY but Ring gave it to Kovalev.

I agree with your take that there's a double standard though. Gamboa to Bud was small and off a year but that's not mentioned by the crowd who try to tarnish every Loma fight despite knowing all this information prior and still picking Loma to take an L.

I think if Crawford had gotten a 3rd fight in he'd have probably gotten FOTY last year but it wasn't an easy call. Both guys fought huge underdogs and won handily. Diaz and Indongo were around 16-1, Rigo was a little under 5-1 I believe.
