Yeah, he has faired fine against southpaws but he is always taged a little more and i just think Tarver has to much power for him. Just my opinion but i think RJJ will ko hopkins if they fight again too.

Not sure on that . . . .
Hopkins should stay away from TARVER? BH is not that impressive on this one against DLH . . . it might be over cautiosness or something else . . . but if that's going to be his showing against Tarver . . . BH is DONE.

Originally posted by SweetScienceHopkins did not impress me tonight. DLH was out boxing him and Hopkins looked slow. If he faces a bigger puncher in Tarver/Jones he's getting knockout. Of course though Hopkins will cash in again but this time he's going to lose.

What is this I hear about Tarver not going to be Jones' next opponent after Glen Johnson, and is it true?

Hopkins has always been known to be such a slow starter. Among the few exceptions were when he faced Tito and that fellow he knocked out in less than a minute of the first round a decade ago. But the way he got off against De la Hoya was really, really late even for Hopkins. He seemed uncertain until the middle rounds and failed to impose his will in the manner that he usually did with his prior opponents (from the third or fourth round up). His well-honed skills were flashed intermitently in the early rounds becoming more frequently displayed beginning in the 6th but the Hopkins WILL appeared to have gone on leave all throughout the fight. The Hopkins psychological make-up that was always evident in his demeanor in previous fights appeared to have been absent when he faced Oscar. He WAS ****y (though NOT HOPKINS-****Y) when he came unto the ring apron, but the ****iness disappeared when the bell sounded.Last edited by grayfist; 09-19-2004, 09:36 AM.

Yeah ROy defiently wants this belt first to negotiate with Tarver. Tarver has to realize if he wants his big money its only in JONES /TARVER 3.
Roy's advisors say hes still mad a bout that fight and he wants the rematch BADLY so I have a faith it will happen.
I heard something about them fighting in December.

I think Roy can get down to Hopkins weight but I dont think Tarver can come down to Hpkins weight. Tarver wont get a chance to fight Hopkins because when Jones beats his ass in the rubber match Tarver will be out of the picture.
Hopkins wont go up in weight if hes smart. He said in an interview once that he credits his success to staying in the same weight class his whole career.
