  • Hopkins should stay away from Tarver/Jones

Hopkins did not impress me tonight. DLH was out boxing him and Hopkins looked slow. If he faces a bigger puncher in Tarver/Jones he's getting knockout. Of course though Hopkins will cash in again but this time he's going to lose.

I disagree... I believe Hopkins looked bad to somebody who doesnt know anything about boxing. He fought an amazingly smart fight tonight and obviiusly had a plan of attack.

I believe Hopkins would have a better chance with Tarver than Jones because he doesnt do well with someone really fast as you could see when DLH threw his flurries. Roy would pound out another UD over Hopkins. Tarver and Hopkins would be more of a slug fest and I think it could go either way. My pick is Hopkins because his chin and his defense is unbelieveable.

LOL, Hopkins should of ran over DLH. He cant sustain a attack for several rounds. Taver is knocking Hopkins out! He's to big and a bigger puncher while having a great defense...have you seen his fights with Roy?????

Wow... you must not know too much about what your talking about. It was a good ounch that Tarver hit Roy with but Roy will get him back with speed in the third fight. And have you seen Hopkins's chin?? He is not going to get knocked out by the overrated Tarver. I dont think DLH is overrated I just think hes in a weight class he doesnt belong in and he was gonig against the best in that wweight class. Tarver is overated

Yeah and Tarver wasnt going to KO Jones right???? Tarver fought a close first fight with Roy and KO'd Roy in the rematch. He's not overrated, you must be a Roy nuthugger. I think Roy can beat Tarver in another close fight, but it wont be easy. Hopkins cant take what Tarver has to offer. Tarver has quick hands with POWER, that will take care of Hopkins. Tarver is too big and strong.

I agree with you that Roy will take the next fight but it will be hard.

I'm just going to say this.. If Hopkins could make 175 and carry it easily (which i think he can) then he would beat Tarver

                Hum

I have to think Tarver has to much power for Hopkins. He is also fast and is a very good counter puncher. Not to mention the fact that he is a south paw. Hell, even Allen hit Hopkins with a few good shots. Hopkins is a great middleweight but is no much for Tarver. And lacks the power and speed to beat Roy. Roy ud over Tarver in the third fight.

                RJJ is da man.

Hopkins came in at 156lbs against De la Hoya-- a long way from 175lbs--and didn't look like the same guy who trashed Tito. What happened was that Oscar was just too small: he looked hurt by the naturally bigger man's punches (even by some of the jabs!); his knees visibly buckled down twice or thrice in some rounds before the 9th when he finally went down on the canvass and stayed there. If Hopkins goes up to LHeavy, he could be asking for the same stuff he wrought Oscar. Wonder if he has enough power to make Tarver pay attention? And, Roy? Does Hopkins pack enough one-punch power at LHeavy? The only way Roy can be beaten is if he's hit by a powerful wallop that can lay him out forthe evening,e.g., Tarver's in their second fight; or, by DQ. There's no way anyone can outscore Roy Jones! Not then, not now, not in the immediate future.

Hopkins has a pretty good resume with southpaws, from Joe Lipsey to John David Jackson to Allen to Vanderpool to Keith Holmes. He has the tools to handle them, and I think he has a pretty good chance against Tarver.
