I give both Canelo and Floyd plenty of credit and defend them both against the haters when they get idiotic. Having said that, Canelo was green in this fight. His identity up to this date is still a counter puncher first. Against Smith/Khan, he showed his growth as an offensive fighter when pressuring and attacking. That part of his game was DEFINITELY not there against Floyd, and it was still not there against Lara.

Styles make fight. Green Canelo who didn't know how to press his offense was an easy fight for Floyd. At times, it didn't look easy, and it was competitive, but the dude is tailor made for Floyd. At the time, he had poor movement, lack of offensive skills, and lack of power to hurt Floyd's granite chin.

It's not discrediting, it's stating facts. The 2013 version of man-boy Canelo that fought Floyd is absolutely nothing like the guy who fight Smith or Golovkin. It's what makes me a big fan. Canelo stays in tremendous shape and keeps working on his craft, constantly improving one aspect or another.

Great performance by Floyd. Canelo probably has improved but he would have had to improve x 10 to beat Floyd.

The dominant performance wasn't down to 2lbs or Canelo being green. It's because Canelo is a boxer, not a brawler and made the naive mistake thinking he could box with Floyd. If you do that, you won't even come close to winning. Maybe saying he was naive is unfair because he IS a boxer and you can't just turn to a game plan that isn't natural to you against one of the best fighters to lace them up.

Floyd is just the superior boxer of the two and Canelo doesn't have the tools to compete with him in that respect and never had the tools to do anything different.

He was 23. Don't you read the tale of the tape? Oh and he had almost as many pro fights as Mayweather, he only had like 4 less pro fights. So this inexperienced thing is all crap.

What a difference he was a good 23 and fought a bunch of bums since 15 cause he didn’t want to be a amatuer while Floyd was fighting champions.

Davis has what, 21 pro fights?

How many fights did Canelo have under his belt? Over 40 fights.

Plus Canelo was 23, stop changing the script.

He wasn't weight drained GTFOH! He's the one who asked for the cacthweight and was 153lbs the fight before that. So what, he was drained by 1lb? GTFOH!

Besides, if you want to argue about weights, how about the fact Mayweather was below the catchweight even ON FIGHT NIGHT. You guys always hide behind the 'Mayweather never gives his fight night weight' myth but he actually did this time, and he was 150lbs, 2lbs below the catchweight. You don't wanna talk about that side of the weight issue do you? Canelo was 165lbs on fight night, outweighed Floyd by 15lbs.

You wana argue about age? Canelo was 23 but how old was Floyd huh? Yeah your boy lost to a 36 year old, little man.

                That's what's up.

Dude canelo was green bro don’t try and act like he was legit. Come on Larry. Floyd beats him either way but put canelo right now with Floyd then and it’s a closer fight.

I don't believe in the "Canelo was green" excuses. Mayweather was just leagues above in skill.
