I give both Canelo and Floyd plenty of credit and defend them both against the haters when they get idiotic. Having said that, Canelo was green in this fight. His identity up to this date is still a counter puncher first. Against Smith/Khan, he showed his growth as an offensive fighter when pressuring and attacking. That part of his game was DEFINITELY not there against Floyd, and it was still not there against Lara.
Styles make fight. Green Canelo who didn't know how to press his offense was an easy fight for Floyd. At times, it didn't look easy, and it was competitive, but the dude is tailor made for Floyd. At the time, he had poor movement, lack of offensive skills, and lack of power to hurt Floyd's granite chin.
It's not discrediting, it's stating facts. The 2013 version of man-boy Canelo that fought Floyd is absolutely nothing like the guy who fight Smith or Golovkin. It's what makes me a big fan. Canelo stays in tremendous shape and keeps working on his craft, constantly improving one aspect or another.
