last year there were people praising Sam Soliman for his performance against Winky Wright. I wonder if those same people are praising Malignaggi or not.

I thought Wright outclassed the wily Soliman.

I thought Malignaggi gave Cotto a much better fight than a champion should have allowed if Paulie's really as bad as you guys say. One judge had it 115-112. I had it 114-113.

Paulie, with his lack of power, is going to struggle whenever he runs into a Top 10 guy in the division. But I think he definitely has a place in boxing, the way guys like Mayorga and Gatti and Chris Byrd do - they have an obvious thing that they are giving up going into the fight, but they can make things happen.

I think Cotto is being guarded right now with his matchmaking. He got knocked around by a couple of second-10 guys in the division and they schedule a guy with 5 KOs in 21 rounds who landed a ton of punches...

Does it matter if Paulie hurt Cotto or not at all?

Paulie is a boxer, not a slugger. He's probably not going to hurt many people, but he can outbox them.

Malignaggi was winning the middle rounds and thats all that matters.

Cotto is just the more powerful, more experienced boxer...so Paulie was basically overmatched from the start and still did a great job.

Everyone has some bad fights coming up, Cotto began pro at 20, or something now hes 25 with 7 title fights. If you guys are real students of boxing you'd rewatch the Paulie fight, and spot that Cotto clearly wasnt using his jab on purpose. Just look at the 4th round, and compare to others. I'm not trying to convert your opinions, I'm just giving you guys a heads up, because its right in your face.

With out Winkys defensive skills and jab look what happens. Its no difference when Cotto opts to brawl instead of box.

The fact is MAG isnt that bad, and if he can stay active and keep training he could make a serious name for himself, he was not seasoned at all and looked like an amateur fighting a true professional, and with that said a professional that many look ALITTLE to highly on, Mag needs to stay away from boxing for about 6-12 months and hit the weights and when he comes back he would hit a lot harder!
