With Errol Spence slated for a June 16th defense of his IBF title, it certainly wouldn't be him. But could it happen later on in 2018?...

more of a Spence fan than a Thurman fan, but of course Thurman is right to make Spence wait
why should he hand Spence any type of advantage, for any type of reason?
because the fans want him to ?
the turds who threw Cotto/Canelo under a bus, simply because they would not make it easy for Golovkin by handing him the world on a platter..... are muppets

Any level headed fan, sans-fanboy, can see Thurman is doing the right thing for himself (what every fighter should prioritize) and also for making this fight into a spectacle. He's coming off a layoff and injury, he needs a tune up and a decent opponent before facing Spence. In the meantime Spence will continue to build his profile and make this bout bigger.

because you do not take a dangerous fight like that unless you are 100%..... also, business-wise, Garcia > Spence
Spence fans are being ridiculous if they think anyone would/should, hand him an advantage..... just like the Golovkin fans were ridiculous thinking that SUPERSTARS should hand Golovkin the world, when he clearly had not paid his dues
especially Spence, of all people..... who is legit, and more than capable of making his own way without hype/bullshht

Pathetic!!
So like it or not people in boxing are thinking like this & therefore its a part of the discussion for us fans to. Or we are just a bunch of kids talking about The Thing vs The Hulk like The Thing isn't about to retire & wants a big check to close his career on & The Hulk has a slave contract with his opposing promoter who likes to keep things in house.
Knowledge is power. And money is a bigger part of boxing than its ever been.
Admittedly it'd be cooler if boxing worked like every other sport & guys just competed, but with how boxing is setup up its like a million small businesses. Everyone is trying to maximize there revenue. You aren't going to get the best vs the best when they are the best all that often when thats the reality we are operating under.

Cmon man we all know that fight has like a 5% chance of happening cuz of the dynamics of boxing. Arum would be a dummy to not wanna get Crawford into Horn's title first to make this a unification fight. And I'd argue he wants to get Crawford the Manny win so its possible Crawford even has a superior argument to get a better cut + giving Arum more edges in the fight talks.
No one in boxing is ever in a rush to make these staples of their promotion crossover fights. This fight isn't happening til things get sorted out more at 147 on both sides (post-Crawford vs Horn & Manny & post-Spence vs Thurman at a minimum).

No, I will not watch Thurman to see him lose, so the Mayweather comparison won't work (I watched Mayweather because he was a supreme talent anyway, although there were a few that I refused to pay for like Berto and Maidana 2). I won't watch him until he fights Spence or Bud. I will not support him via viewership for needless rematches. Boxing fans have to stop allowing the boxers and suits to provide a product of lesser quality and expect to keep fans around. This is how boxing gets in a rut to begin with.

The only reason Thurman's fights with Porter and Garcia were close is because "One Time" spent the last half of both fights backpedaling like a coward. Something the boxing media conveniently loves to ignore. Thurman is clearly superior to Garcia and Porter, we don't need to see either fight again.
