Definitely not two years, I want to see how he looks when he comes back in his next fight then we see how much he is ready for Spence. This fight has to happen 2018 ending or latest early 2019.

Brook was always fighting @ 147 he had the IBF belt @ that weight it was a title defence

Thurman-Porter was a very entertaining fight. But was it really that big a win for Keith? Not really. He arguably lost. And he was basically fighting Porter coming off a loss. Shawn wasn’t even competitive against Kell Brook. And a couple tune-up wins (yes, Broner was a tune-up) didn’t erase what happen against Brook.

And the Garcia win was more overblown than that. If you take away the belts, Thurman-Garcia was basically a top two or three welterweight fighting a fringe contender. Danny hasn’t done anything at welterweight. He arguably lost to Peterson in what was basically a fight between top jr welterweights fought at a 143 catchweight. He beat a washed up Malignaggi. And beat a shot to hell Guerrero for a vacant belt. And even thought Danny had a lot of credentials as the jr welterweight champ moving up. A lot of that momentum was lost when he arguably lost to Herrera.

At the end of the day, Thurman has been a solid top welterweight. But even today, he’s done nothing to warrant him getting a pass on trying to put off a Spence class. He’s basically a paper champion. One belt he won vacant. And the other he won from a guy that’s done nothing in the division. And his best win is arguably a loss. And that’s against a guy that was soundly beaten by the champion that Spence destroyed. Thurman needs Spence to legitimize himself. Not the other way around. And Thurman seems to believe the former.
Refreshing to read a comment from somebody who knows the sport. I still think Brook would've been too much for Thurman at 147. Brook just decided to fight the one guy who could beat him at the weight. I respect him for that. These other guys need to step up.

have yall seen thurman lately. the mofo has a beer belly and looks bloated around the face. he has bad habits outside the ring. his youth lets him get away with it now but it's gonna catch up. and if u seen his last interview hes nowhere near mentally prepared for spence.

and I dont see how vargas would prepare him for spence. and I don't know if I would even consider vargas a "tune up". a tune up is a punching bag opponent you use for target practice. brandon rios is a tune up. vargas can beat thurman.

and derrick james is correct. fans didn't give brook no damn pass and brook did everything possible to avoid spence. that was literally the last thing he wanted to do. the only reason it happened is because khan priced himself out for a brook clash. so spence should thank khan for shoving brook in his direction.

and if we are giving thurman a pass what is porters excuse? oh hes not ranked by IBF. these mofos are scared. and danny garcia said spence has to fight crawford first. its disgusting all these guys are in their physical prime and are running scared.

spence is gonna have to settle for alexander-ortiz winner. or matthysse-kiram winner. or how about one of the undefeated young hungry lions like rashidi ellis and the 5'11" jose benavidez? point is spence has to remain active. another 8-9 month hiatus is unwarranted he took no punishment vs peterson.

All that mandatory talk is nonsense. The WBC doesn't strip champions of titles. Especially not for a unification fight where they can get a huge sanctioning fee. Stop with that excuse. It doesn't have any weight.

When was the the last time a WBC champ was stripped of a title for not fighting a mandatory?
Canelo was stripped for not fighting 3G

Yeah, Spence needs to fight and whoop Porter next. That was people can compare his performance against Thurman's performance. Assuming Spence whoops Porter, the pressure would really be on Thurman. I really hope Spence gets the fights he needs to prove he is the truth at 147.

If anyone had a valid excuse to put off a Spence showdown, or avoid it all together it was Brook. He was coming off a legitimate facial injury against GGG. He had also jumped two divisions to fight Gennady. No one would have blamed him for taking a tuneup. Hell, no one is holding that against Thurman. And to be honest, no one would have held it against Brook to vacate his belt and make the move to 54, where he should probably be fighting anyway. He made no excuses, stepped up and fought Spence. Thurman got more excuses than a cat going to jail.

I agree with Spence on this Thurman needs a warm up fight and maybe Brook should have too.Not saying he would have beaten Spence but he was coming back off what many saw a career ending injury and was too quick back in with such a force.

If Keith doesn't see that by the years end they should meet then he is stalling. I fully understand why Thurman was calling all the shots and fighters out but since Spence has proven he can do it at very top level I haven't heard a peep.
