It's obvious Thurman is ducking Spence, He fought on March 4th and hurt his elbow and then he waited the same week Spence fought Brook in May to have his surgery, remember he made the pics public either that Thursday or Friday before Spence Brook fight cause Thurman knew Spence would beat Brook and then call him out after the fight which Spence did but Thurman had his excuse ready "I just had surgery" so I cant fight for the rest of 2017 remember

Thurman-Porter was a very entertaining fight. But was it really that big a win for Keith? Not really. He arguably lost. And he was basically fighting Porter coming off a loss. Shawn wasn’t even competitive against Kell Brook. And a couple tune-up wins (yes, Broner was a tune-up) didn’t erase what happen against Brook.
And the Garcia win was more overblown than that. If you take away the belts, Thurman-Garcia was basically a top two or three welterweight fighting a fringe contender. Danny hasn’t done anything at welterweight. He arguably lost to Peterson in what was basically a fight between top jr welterweights fought at a 143 catchweight. He beat a washed up Malignaggi. And beat a shot to hell Guerrero for a vacant belt. And even thought Danny had a lot of credentials as the jr welterweight champ moving up. A lot of that momentum was lost when he arguably lost to Herrera.
At the end of the day, Thurman has been a solid top welterweight. But even today, he’s done nothing to warrant him getting a pass on trying to put off a Spence class. He’s basically a paper champion. One belt he won vacant. And the other he won from a guy that’s done nothing in the division. And his best win is arguably a loss. And that’s against a guy that was soundly beaten by the champion that Spence destroyed. Thurman needs Spence to legitimize himself. Not the other way around. And Thurman seems to believe the former.

I'm not understanding why Thurman is catching so much heat? Dude had surgery and hasn't fought since. Is he expected to get back and fight Spence right away? I'm sure they'll fight in the Next year or so. Thurman is not gonna go in against him at anything less than 100%.

“You know, I’ll give him a pass,” Spence said. “I even said that. I’ve been going on record and say I’ll let him have a tune-up fight. He’s been off for a while, he just come off an injury. Have a tune-up fight. But after that, it should be me. Yeah, [in] 2018. This is the beginning of the year. This is January. Have a tune-up fight in March, April, and we could fight at the end of the year.” - Eroll Spence
I sure hope Spence doesnt wait till the end of the year to figth again, I dont see why he cant fight 2 more times before the year is done with.

Decision wins vs a 40 yr. old Bundu and a faded Guerrero don't impress at all. The last guy he stopped was the journeyman Collazo. If Keith would like to fight as much as he likes to talk, he'd get a lot more respect,

As for the belts, f.uck em. All that sacrificing to win them is bull****. Once you win the title, it’s won. The boxing public knows who’s who. And we don’t need belts to tell us that. Thurman loses more by not fighting Spence in order to hang onto the belts. Than he he does by dropping the belts in order to fight Spence.
Also, belts usually mean bigger paydays and more power on the negotiating table. No one tells Joshua "drop your belts so you don't have to face puluev and that opens the door to fight Parker an wilder"

Which means whether the winner has hundred belts or no belt. You won’t be able to make a claim of beinging the top welterweight in the world without going through the winner of that fight. That’s he true definition of a champion.

Spence mando is up now vs some bum from Mexico. I bet you anything you want Spence will face him and won't vacate the title in search of the bigger fight because the title matters to them.
