    The Problem of Adrien Broner

I know Broner's always on some bullshit, but it sucks to see a once promising fighter being reduced to a gatekeeper. His fighting style just isn't working for him, but he shows flashes of potential. He's displayed fast hands and good power, but he never lets his hands go enough. He's shown decent footwork in spots, but he prefers to fight on flat feet, for whatever reason. At this rate, an actual work ethic isn't gonna be enough.

I heard he's fighting Omar Figueroa Jr next. If he fights Figueroa like he fought Maidana, Porter and Garcia, he'll probably get demolished. What do you guys think Broner needs, in order to become a great fighter?

He needs to get his mind right to begin with, without that nothing else matters. He refuses to listen to his corner or anyone positive in his life and continues doing the same dumbass ****.

He's fought a lot of good fighters actually.

He seems to fight in spurts, it may be a stamina thing or he doesn't really know how to set up his punches properly. Honestly, he's matched pretty tough as well which doesn't help him at all..

He seems like the kind of guy that wants to rely on athleticism to win fights. Problem is once you get to the top level it's not nearly enough

HE FIGHTs WAY TOO FLAt FOOTED, the guy could improve his footwork as a start

The thing about Broner thoough. He's a draw, people are entertained by his weirdness --as long as this hold up he doesn't even need to win to get big fight.

Why is he even getting a big fight? He should be fighting a nobody to get his confidence back

Broner’s problem is that he has a distorted image of self importance. He’s so impressed with himself that he can’t fathom the idea of losing even though his work rate in the ring is pretty deplorable. Broner defines the phrase “wasted potential.” Any opponent with skill and a decent work output will beat him at this stage of his career.

The problem with Adrien Broner is he's not good enough.

            Simple and plain.

The fact he is completely out of touch with reality doesn't help him.

There is absolutely nothing he can do to become a great fighter. He never had the potential to be a great fighter in my opinion. He could become a better fighter by training his ass off Mayweather style. His stamina is poor and he only averages about 25 punches thrown per round. That's real bad even for heavyweights. He needs to be throwing at least 50 punches a round. He needs to act like a dedicated boxer 365 days a year. Stay out of trouble, keep his weight down and eat right and stay in shape. He needs to come up with a better defense against hard attacking boxers like Porter and Maidana than a bear hug clinch. He needs to try harder to win in the ring. He sure didn't try very hard to win his last fight.

^This. Seems that every thread about "what went wrong" is built on this false premise that he was gifted some sort of limitless potential. That was just the hype. He never showed himself to truly have elite potential, IMO.

What his is, is a talented guy who actually made it pretty far in boxing. How many guys reach the levels he did? Boxing fans always look at boxers and ask "what happened". Very few guys go through a career looking amazing the whole time, that's what happens. We need to stop thinking that he was supposed to be a legend.
