The Problem of Adrien Broner

I think he's switching trainers. There's a vid of him working with Kevin Cunningham. And today someone asked him if he was switching and he basically said no commentComment

what levels did he reach exactly? winning paper belts? he never beat the man in any of those divisions and whenever he stepped up against top fighters they wiped the floor with broner he also looked really poor against guys he shouldn't have and really should have more losses on his record.^This. Seems that every thread about "what went wrong" is built on this false premise that he was gifted some sort of limitless potential. That was just the hype. He never showed himself to truly have elite potential, IMO.
What his is, is a talented guy who actually made it pretty far in boxing. How many guys reach the levels he did? Boxing fans always look at boxers and ask "what happened". Very few guys go through a career looking amazing the whole time, that's what happens. We need to stop thinking that he was supposed to be a legend.Comment

He is just too flawed and limited as a fighter to fight at the very elite level, no matter how hard he trains.Comment

Problem with Broner is he was never that good and never smart enough to really understand Mayweather's style and his bad impersonation of Mayweather is just that, bad!
His footwork is awful, he's too flat footed anyone pressuring him making him move basically takes away his offence as he likes his feet set to punch.
His head movement is poor, he just leans back from punches behind that shoulder while Mayweather did more than that, he would slip to the left or right, he'd rarely lean all the way back like Broner does which compromises his balance.
He doesn't know how to use his elbow, shoulder or head to create barriers to prevent guys getting inside. Look at the Porter fight, Mayweather would of used his elbow to prevent Porter coming in too close and lift his head with his elbow to expose Porter to counters. Broner instead allowed Porter to smother him.Comment

No point feeling bad for him, he has plenty of money for now, won titles and is in good health.
What a dickhead he is in this interview, Rahim should've just cancelled the interview after the first 30 seconds.Comment

It's not as simple as letting his hands go more either, if he could he would. He may be seen as an underachiever or whatever but he's smart enough to sense danger and he knows the risks of opening up more, but doesn't have the skill to fight at a low output and win against higher level fighters.Comment

anyone with fast hands has the potential to become great according to some. it doesnt work that way. you have to have a fast brain in order to figure out what to do against good fighters. he cant do that unfortunately. thats why he just stands there most of the time with gloves upComment
