Comments Thread For: The Problem With Danny Garcia

On September 14, 2013, Danny Garcia silenced all of his naysayers with a 12-round unanimous decision against Lucas Matthysse. It was a fight that many expected Garcia to lose on a huge stage (Mayweather-Canelo). However, Garcia proved them all wrong by turning back Matthysse’s pressure with a measured attack and a solid jab. It was supposed to be Garcia’s breakout moment.

a measured attack, a solid jab, and tony weeks f-cuking up and letting him low blow and score a knockdown from a rabbit punch. maybe the problem is that tony wasnt the ref for his other fights?

he has no right to say Spence and Crawford MUST face each other, either fight one of them..Spence preferably by fans or shut up, he's just a cherry picker who's fought 3 credible guys in 33 fights and went 2-1 but arguably should be 1-2 if you watch and judge the peterson fight

His problem is he doesn’t have any personality so he gained a limited fan base (a bit like Ward), his father has all the profile but everyone hates him, which isn’t great for sales either.

Then there was the weird match making, always put this doubt in my mind his team knew something everyone else didn’t, like a vulnerability or injury or something, whatever it was it slowed his momentum, he never gained star status

He thinks he is bigger than he is. He is limited and smallish has no shot against the top dog WWs and he knows it

Danny Garcia is not promising at 147. He lost to the only decent welterweight he's faced. Now, he was just gifted a title eliminator against a cherry. If he ever wins another title at 147, expect him to milk it dry. Garcia's been on some bullshit ever since he beat Matthysse.

If Garcia beats Rios he can get right back on track , win lose or draw by facing Porter or the Spence vs Peterson winner. Haymon somehow needs to straighten this clown up.

The pbc model has breeded complacency instead of great competition. The sales pitch from Haymon seems to have been, I can make you the most money with the least amount of risk and least amount of activity. For the most part, these guys aren't chasing greatness. Strictly the check and their prime years are being wasted as a result.
