Can't fault Mikey for taking a title fight. There is plenty of time to build up a Garcia/Easter clash. Sooner or later Mikey will have to fight Easter, Linares or Loma. If he doesn't, then we can say he's ducking (so long as no one is pricing themselves out) Right now it's too soon.

Yes actually you can fault him and I do, whether you choose to is your decision but I think hes a fraud for always saying he wants to fight the best and then when given the opportunity he turns it down. I also fault Al Haymon for letting his fighters cherry pick before they've even established themselves as ppv stars. At least Floyd was a legit Ppv star when he started the cherrypicking, these guys are doing it when they are supposed to be building to that point. Not only is it bad for business its bad for boxing in general. Top Rank wouldnt let Garcia cherrypick thats why he ran to pbc protective custody

Broner is a 4 division champ and hasnt beaten a single elite opponent and that's exactly what Mikey is doing. At least Broner took a couple challenges like Porter and Garcia, Garcia isnt even doing that. He's all talk

To be fair to Mikey, they were supposed to meet up to negotiate for the fight but they had to cancel because Mikey's massive head couldn't fit through the doorway to where the meeting was to take place.

I agree with your point about Haymon fighters. But, Mikey doesn't have a lot of options outside of PBC. He left TR and turned down a three fight contract with GBP that would have given him Cotto and Linares. I give him credit for stepping up to Broner, and I will wait to see who his next opponent is after Lipinets before writing him off just yet.

The fight made sense. The money was good, the fight is a unification between two unbeaten champions, AND there would also be a huge selling story with Easter avenging his promoter (Broner) for his defeat to Mikey.

But you know, Mikey is fighting a champion at a higher division so it's kinda hard to totally write him off as a duck.
