walters was an elite fighter. russel jr went on to beat the #1 fighter in his division after losing to loma. thats pretty impressive isnt it? both these guys also have styles that are much harder to crack than a guy like castillo or corrales, or how about gatti, or how about baldomir? floyd spent the majority of his career fighting these guys with crude to no boxing skills. only at the end did he pick off some older fighters. stop overrating him. loma still has time to be great. lets hope he surpasses mediocre floyd ten fold. lets set the bar high and dont aim low for floyds weak resume. aim for leonards. he has 4 wins better than any win on floyds weak resume.

I wonder why Floyd fans get 'earnings' confused with 'boxing excellence'?

The two are related, but are not the same thing. Floyd is rich beyond what guys like Robinson could ever dream of, yet isn't as good as SRR. He is way richer that RJJ, but wasn't as good as him either.

I don't think Floyd is under any illusions that Loma will earn more money than him. The threat he feels isn't about who will be richer, but who will be known as the better fighter. You don't get to the level that FMJ did without feeling an instinctual response to a challenge. Sure, he feels challenged. It will only get worse as Loma goes on to be clearly the best fighter of his era, as Floyd was the best fighter of his era.

Hopefully he can be secure in himself enough to just laugh at the comparisons and enjoy the current generation of stars.

tank davis is more popular? hes been fighting on undercards his entire career how can you make that claim? the only headliner he was in was when he fought on the other guys home turf. loma makes much more than him but ok. hes being overpaid because he cant even headline so i dont know why they are overpaying him to fight bums. the floyd way i suppose.

how can floyd be the best fighter of his era if he never fought the other best guys in his era? well until they were over the hill that is but in their primes i mean. it makes no sense. there is just no high quality substance to that resume. lots of solid wins but he didnt prove he was the best. he had the chance against cotto, marg and pac and he didnt want to make the fights and hes the best? pacs resume is much better than his so how can floyd be better? he beat him head to head? well are floyd and jeff horn co best of the eras? is this now the jeff horn era?
