Honestly His resume isn't that bad

He fought Cloud and Bika low level ex champs

Beat Bellew who went on to win a strap and beat Haye

Beat Fonfara who after went on to beat Chavez & Cleverly

And beat Williams after he had a FOTY with Edwin

and is scheduled to fight Jack

It's not absolute dog sh.it like people make it out to be

May 2015, to setup a second WBC purse bid. Kathy Duva claims again she wouldn't participate in that second purse bid because it would cause a breach of contract if they would lose that bid. The WBC still left the 1st position in the ranking to Sergey Kovalev.
On September 2015, Stevenson fought the guy who just defeated Chad Dawson, Tommy Karpency. In fact, it was suppose to be Chad Dawson revenge fight against Stevenson; but suprisingly Karpency took Dawson spot.
Deciding to no longer hope something from Kovalev clan, the WBC moved on: in order to determine a mandatory challenger to Stevenson. Between No. 1 ranked NABF champion Isaac Chilemba and No. 2 ranked WBC Silver champion Eleider Alvarez, in a final eliminator.
November 28 2015, like always Stevenson was still chasing Kovalev belts, he proposed Duva a 2 networks deal; which she rejected without even analyzing the potential of it and by mocking the idea. But in the meantime, as decided beforehand by the WBC, Eleider Alvarez became mandatory to Adonis Stevenson even if he had the WBC silver belt since October 2014. Because prior to his fight against Chilemba, Alvarez was 2nd. The number 1 in the ranking was for the holder of the WBC Diamond belt, initially won by Jean Pascal on January 18 2014.

About Alvarez-Stevenson, we shouldn't forget that PBC channels were not trilled by the idea of broadcasting a fight between these two, not to forget Alvarez's coaches needed a better preparation for Alvarez, by giving him more rounds against southpaws.:
(Using google, clic that link, and activate the English translator: "http://ici.radio-canada.ca/nouvelle/...tion-24fevrier")

January 30 2016, not discouraging about his chances of facing the 3 belts holder, Stevenson attempted to do a Live face-to-face against Kovalev on HBO, and Kovalev fled his own interview with Max Kellerman standing still with the mic.

Meanwhile, the TV was captivated by Thomas Williams's exiting wins against Umberto Savigne and Edwin Rodriguez. So, as Rodriguez lost to Williams they decided to match Williams to Stevenson. Alvarez team decided to give a shot to Dawson, but Dawson declined few days before the fight. Fortunately, they find a replacement southpaw in Robert Berridge, which Alvarez fought under the Williams Jr vs Stevenson undercard.
But again, even with a short 10 days notice, unprepared Robert Berridge did a full 10 rounds against Alvarez. Which was something who hasn't pleased the television expectations.
Due to his poor performance against southpaw Berridge, Alvarez faced another southpaw in Lucian Bute on Febuary 24 2017, which he has defeated convincingly but was not televised on any US networks. At this very moment, Alvarez claim he was now ready for Stevenson. Therefore, to raise his public interest, they've made Alvarez the proposition to meet Jean Pascal on Fonfara-Stevenson undercard. On both times, Alvarez accepted to benefit from side money.

Nonetheless, The big questions is: "Why they match Adonis Stevenson against Andrzej Fonfara instead of another top 10 guy out there?"

I've checked March 2017 Boxrec list, to see the list of meaningful opponent Stevenson could have fought before committing to give Fonfara his revenge.
World rank 04 Joe Smith Jr = Smiths' negotiations terms were unrealistic
World rank 05 Eleider Alvarez = Mandatory, but was settle to Jean Pascal on 06/03/2017
World rank 06 Oleksandr Gvozdyk = Jumped from rank 11 to 06 After defeading Yunieski Gonzalez on 04/08/2017
World rank 09 Andrzej Fonfara = Settlement to fight Adonis Stevenson signed since 04/06/2017
World rank 10 Artur Beterbiev = Available, no scheduled opponent: (at the time)
World rank 11 Marcus Browne = Available, no scheduled opponent: (at the time)
World rank 12 Sullivan Barrera = Declined proposition to fight Artur Beterbiev, settlement to fight Paul Parker on 04/15/2017.
BTW, I didn't add rank 08 Cleverly, which was beaten by both Bellew and Fonfara. Nor rank 07 Pascal, which was pounded twice by a Kov and once by Yunieski Gonzalez.

Paying close attention to the details of every element of this issue makes the difference between "WHAT SEEMS" to be the situation and "WHAT IS" the reality. Therefore, if you guys check the Boxrec world ranking; What's wrong about Stevenson making a rematch against Fonfara after Smith's team disagreement, I know Cleverly (08) was available, but really. Anyhow, by pointing out minor details we must take in consideration the WBC ranking, which is another indicator about who should've been next to fight Adonis Stevenson.

WBC Ranking FEB 2017, to see another list of meaningful opponent Stevenson could have fought before committing to give Fonfara his revenge.
      1. Eleider Alvarez (Colombia) SILVER
      2. Sergey Kovalev (Russia)
      3. Joe Smith Jr. (US) INTL
      4. Badou Jack (Gambia/Sweden)
      5. Artur Beterbiev (Russia)
      6. Oleksandr Gvozdyk (Ukraine) NABF
      7. Lucian Bute (Canada)
      8. Sullivan Barrera (Cuba) USNBC
      9. Andrzej Fonfara (Poland)
      10. Sean Monaghan (US) AMERICA

In that list, Badou Jack, Artur Beterbiev, Sullivan Barrera, Andrzej Fonfara & Sean Monaghan were the available ones. Barrera fought on 04/15/2017, which means you have Artur Beterbiev & Andrzej Fonfara as legit opponents; "Fonfara Stevenson signed since 04/06/2017". Beterbiev has the same promoter and advisor as Adonis Stevenson, which means it's better to have 2 champions instead of one, right! But after trimming down that list, Who's name was left for an optional bout?
*Exactly, you got it = Andrzej Fonfara

Why did you lie and claim our response had nothing to do with what you stated? We've clearly proven you lied. Why not admit it and restore your honor? You're resorting to name calling now because you know you're a defeated man.

And when did belt holder Adonis Stevenson fight any decent opponent last time?

WBC needs to strip this pimp ASAP!

Stevenson actually had a pretty decent run up until 2014 but I have no idea what's happened since then. Fighting once a year doesn't help either.

Should of faced 2 or 3 mandos by now....he has been avoiding fight( minus the kova situation, imo there both to blame for that)... but it is bull**** Alvarez keeps taking step aside money, pick up your nuts and force the fight

I agree with this but most have the impression that he could had faced one of the top 175 pounders champs in his reign

The people who constantly defend him are just sad. The guy has done nothing but hold his title hostage while fighting sparingly against soft opposition. Jack is a step in the right direction but Stevenson is already 40 years old. I doubt he has much left.

He agreed to fight Kovalev. Kovalev vacated his title and blatantly ducked the fight.

Maybe people defend Stevenson because the actual facts support defending him.

Stevenson could've fought Kovalev when he was still on HBO but made the decision to go to Showtime.

Kovalev didn't want to jeopardize his new contract with HBO.

Both were business decisions, neither fighter was "scurred".

However, the fight would've been much easier to make the first time around considering how the networks operate.

Kovalev fought Hopkins, Pascal twice and Ward twice.

Stevenson fought Fonfara twice, Sakio "Win For Hire" Bika who was moving up in weight, and a couple of other security guards.

                      Those are the facts.
