Comments Thread For: Bernstein: Beating Loma Was an Impossible Ask of Rigondeaux

Greatest fight of the decade they said, two time Olympic gold medalists face each other for the first time ever in Boxing. A game of chess between two masters, a fight between two warriors for the centuries.
Holy crap why the **** was this fight even made?
Rigo is 6 and a half percent lighter than Loma in weight, shorter, but with a 3 inch reach advantage. All things being equal, Loma should have been better than Rigo by 6.5%, perhaps won a 7-5 decision.
But Loma was like a God against an amateur Bum in there.
Loma’s talent was on a level that made Rigo quit like a loser.
It’s not the weight, 6.5 ****ing percent is nothing to justify the complete domination. It was not a Chocolatito vs Joshua fight, it’s a small guy against a very slightly heavier but still small guy.
But now the ****** shlt people write about this fight makes me question why the **** was this fight even made? I mean 6.5% weight difference. Cry me a ****ing river. So glad, you called out that foolishness
Canelo almost killed Amir Khan
GGG broke Kell Brook's face
Those types of mismatches have no place in boxingComment

No, Loma was totally too big for him. I knew that his talk would exist when Loma won. Anytime that you have to include that size didn't matter means you knew that size mattered.Comment

Well I guess my prediction on youtube a week before the fight saying Rigo would QUIT before the 8th round because he would not be able to hit loma was just a lucky guess then. I can send you the link if you want.Comment

they were 10 pounds in the morning, how much more at fight time. And you know what I'm talking about. lomachenko has always been a lightweight. That was my point. Not excusing Rigondeauax, he wanted a pay day, he got it along with an stigma too. And yes I'm one of those fans and again not excusing Rigondeaux. Only facts, you can dismiss it or not, I really don't care. All lomachenk's fans claiming he has only 10 or 11 professional fights, when in fact he got paid for 6 previous bout at the wsb. He finished his amateur career at lightweight and fought as a feather in the professional ranks. Not too many fights though, you can't hold that natural weight down for long. So far he has fought only smallest fighters, reminds me of ginger. Although the kid can really fight. Lets see when he fight someone his size and comparable skills. A hearns vs. Leonard kind of match...Comment

Try adding 6% to your logic. May help.Comment

Loma proved that he is WAY more skilled than Rigo, that's for sure. All the salt on the planet won't change that.

Proved he was way more skilled? Really? You consider what you saw proof? I’d hate to have you on my jury, man. Lol
The only chance anyone gave Rigo at all was based on skill. I don’t think I’ve heard even one expert say they thought Lomo was more skilled than Rigo, let alone way more skilled. In fact, I’ve heard at least one expert say the opposite.
Size and age are two big factors in combat sports. When the opponents are comparably skilled — a much more reasonable comparison — the bigger, prime athlete has a huge advantage.Comment
