Comments Thread For: Kovalev, Bivol, Beterbiev Create a Red Dawn at 175-Pounds

By Alexey Sukachev - Shots were fired, and a legend was born. Not in the ring, but on the streets of Saint Petersburg - the capital of the Russian Empire - by a revolutionary crowd of labourers, soldiers and sailors. The shot was fired to signalize the birth of a new era not only for a single country but sorry for the expression for all mankind. It was November the 7th, the New Style date, and the day of the Great October Socialistic Revolution in Russia...

Still amazes me that Bivol and Beterbiev got belts before Gvozdyk. Luck of the draw really, Gvozdyk has done more than both of those guys and has been very active

Why would Kovalev and Beterbiev wait until 2019 to unify? They are already either at the end of their primes or past their primes. The writer doesn't know what he's talking about. If there is no unification fight by July this year, boxing is a joke again. The time is now. These fights have marinated too long already. All these guys (Kovalev, Beterbiev, Stevenson) should have fought each other 2-3 years ago. No need to wait any longer. To suggest otherwise is ridiculous, and exactly what is ruining boxing. Do you want to see good fights or not? Then pro tip: make the ****ing fights before Kovalev turns 35, and Beterbiev turns 34. Those are decline ages. Just look at GGG. Make the fights already, hot dayum. Can't believe the ignorance of some boxing writers. They are already 34 and 33 respectively! Stevenson is already almost 40! Make the ****ing fights already! It's ALREADY too late to get the best fights out of those matchups. Now you want to wait even longer? Unbelievable. Exactly the attitude that is ruining boxing. EXACTLY the attitude.

The division is loaded by good eastern europeans and all of them are exciting and have power. I'm sure Chickenson ain't fighting any of them.

I have doubts that none of them will happen either until 2019.

yeah but none of them are fighting each other. thats what i keep hearing about welterweight and light heavyweight, 'oh wow they are loaded divisions, arent they all so great, packed with talent' but the best are rarely fighting the best. and im not convinced by bivol or gvozdyk to be honest, dont look so special to me.

Why is Stevenson even mentioned? He’s a bum and even as an American we have to be unbiased enough to call a spade a spade. He ducked every challenge that he could and he is holding the WBC belt ransom. I don’t know how he has avoided fighting a threat for so long.

Gvozdyk's chin is suspect, other than that he fights intelligently, has height/ range / size on most of his opponents and natural power. He has good footwork / movement but we will see if that is taxing on him when faced with the elite.

In any case he is more proven than Bivol
