If only floyd did not start cherry pick his opponents after the castillo fight he probably has a chance to get the 2000-2009 FIGHTER OF THE DECADE award that he dreamed of.

Mitchell was his very first fight at 147, wasn't it? Not sure what you're talking about here. Up to that point, Margarito only fought Kermit Cintron and Sergio Martinez who wasn't recognized just yet as anything special. And again, Mayweather wasn't against fighting him, but asked for others in the contract such as Cotto, and Top Rank refused.

Why the hell would he be afraid of De La Hoya when he just fought him? That makes no sense. He was locked into negotiation with him for the rematch. Cotto was locked into his next two fights as well, so that makes no sense.

      Article Dated Jan. 18, 2008

BoxingScene.com, speaking with Bob Arum of Top Rank, was informed that WBA welterweight champion Miguel Cotto will defend his title against Contender star Alfonso Gomez on April 12 at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The venue has already set aside the date for Cotto-Gomez.

The welterweight battle between former champions Antonio Margarito*and Zab Judah, slated for April 26, may end up going forward on May 3, with Showtime televising the fight. Provided both Cotto and Margarito win,*Top Rank would*match them on*pay-per-view in July.
Actually, Margarito wound up fighting Cintron on the same card as Cotto vs. Gomez.

Cotto had accepted 2 fights at least by Jan. 18th, 2008
At this time, Mayweather was still in negotiation for the De La Hoya rematch.

Plus, now you're saying he wasn't willing to fight De La Hoya in a rematch, but he fought him at 154 after he was, according to you, afraid to step up after fighting Castillo. See how you don't make any sense at all?

Then you say an old faded Mosley....WHO BEAT THE DOG SHlT OUT OF THE GUY YOU SAID MAYWEATHER WAS DUCKING.

So how was he going to still fight Margarito after his loss to Mosley and after Margarito was forced to sit out his penalty for his illegal wraps? Maybe you can explain that. Or did you forget about that?

Looks like he got what he wanted. I don't know if he was talking guarantees, but he wanted 10 mill for Cotto, 10 mill for Hatton, and 20 mill for De La Hoya.

vs. Hatton -- Floyd's purse was 11 million
vs. Cotto (albeit later) -- Floyd's purse was 32Million
vs. De La Hoya -- Floyd's purse was 25million

So seems he got 28 million more than what he was begging Arum for.

Actually, you can go read this here and it explains perfectly why his move made so much sense:

The obvious one is George Foreman's loss to Ali. He retired and found God, but his fighting style changed too. He wasn't as nervous and restless in the ring as he was before and more methodical and patient.

Margo vs Floyd was a fantasy fight with Top Rank publicity. ODH was a harder adversary than Clottey or Cintron. Plus where were the other WBA IBF adversaries with industry news to unify? If anything it would've been Paul Williams that Floyd would've ducked before retiring, not Margarito. It's TMT negotiation with Top Rank pre 2010. Cmon that's already a fumble to begin with. Arum would probably say 50/50

Hatton turned into a depressed cokehead after getting stopped by Mayweather.

Yeah, I was expecting this to be the first one that people mentioned.

Sadly, instead the thread went into tard-mode almost immediately.
