Comments Thread For: Team Porter To Keith Thurman: We'll Be Waiting Motherf***er!

There are various reports that WBA/WBC welterweight champion Keith Thurman (28-0, 22 KOs) will be facing Jessie Vargas in the spring. Shawn Porter, who narrowly lost to Thurman in June of 2016, will be an interested observer should this match-up come to fruition. His father/trainer, Kenny, told BoxingScene.com - "We'll be sitting ringside, waiting on you 'lil Kiki' to fight your mandatory, Shawn Porter. We'll be waiting on you, we'll be ringside."

I understand the revenge factor, but what if an opportunity to fight Spence Jr. or Crawford comes first?

Shawn Porter should just put on a football helmet and ram into a wall for 12 rounds. It would really be about the same as watching him box.

Thurman himself has said he wouldn't accept either of those fights before Porter. It's going to be whoever he faces in April (I'm still skeptical it will be Vargas) and then Porter. Keith won't face Spence until 2019 sadly.

No, i'm asking, what if Porter has the opportunity to face Spence Jr., or Crawford? What if Thurman faces the winner of Matthysse vs. Kiram (WBA eliminator) next, instead of Porter?

I think Porter wants to wait on fighting Spence till later on down the road.. if you're a fighter you should be ready to jump at the opportunity to face any champion, at any moment for a title shot.
Porter shouldn't remain inactive for that long he should try and fight for an Eliminator in another sanctioning body. Keep your ranking in WBC, but stay active

Silly on their part because if Thurman still decides not to fight him, he doesn't make any money. LOL. I can understand their argument and we all know they aren't trying to fight Spence, but to allow another guy to dictate the progression of your career seems silly to me. We have seen fighters stunt their progression and the fight still not happen.... I don't even care to see this rematch anyway, even though it was close. Porter-Garcia needs to happen and Spence-Thurman needs to happen.

And if Thurman decides to unify after Vargas, than what Team Porter?

Porter can always try to fight Spence for his belt until Thurman is ready. The guy just had surgery and needs a tune up.
