That's why he got the nickname grandmaster. The highest IQ in boxing. Too slick, too intelligent, too chess player, too Russian, too Slavic, too scientific, too technical...

Injury stopped an ATG-level career. Golovkin dodged a bullet here.
Pirog would clown Canelo, Saunders and Golovkin if he was still around and was even remotely close to his prime. Or move up to 168 and clean the division there.Last edited by RedZmaja; 12-22-2017, 11:10 AM.

There are multiple interviews in which Danny says that facing cancer made him realize what's important in life and to focus on boxing much harder than he has ever done. Today's version of Danny is multitudes better than the 2010 one, from the skills perspective and from the physical perspective. In 2010, that was a 23 year old boy. Today, Jacobs is in the prime of his life.
And it wasn't a masterclass by Pirog. It was a masterful shift, however Dmitry was losing on the cards, 3 rounds to 1. Whether you agree with that or disagree, it was a close enough fight that the word 'masterclass' does not apply to either fighter.

History could have been much different had he stuck around - would have loved to see him face GGG

Pirog was dominating the fight and had Jacobs figured out. Only a fool or a corrupt judge would give 3 rounds to Jacobs too. I had all 4 rounds for Pirog as Pirog had the ring generalship and completely controlled the pace while figuring Jacobs out. He was making Jacobs miss and straight up clowned him, hitting him with hard counters too. Pirog hurt Jacobs in the 2nd round which should have been a knockdown. In the 4th round you could already see Jacobs was completely clueless. But I understand that Pirog's style is too complex and too subtle for casuals like you to even comprehend what you were seeing. Listen Steward's commentary of the fight, he couldn't praise Pirog enough, he realized that he was seeing GREATNESS.

Losing at a young age shouldn't be a big deal for anyone.Last edited by j0zef; 12-22-2017, 12:25 PM.

Not sure what the point you're trying to make is. Yes, his body filled out from 7 years ago and he matured physically. A larger portion was also maturing mentally as well as getting 7 more years of fighting experience.
