Parker has beaten a fighter that was ranked within the top 10. Stiverne has not.

Even with that being said, Parker will be tough but not enough to defeat Joshua. Just doesn't have the skill IMO and is someone who stands right in front of his opponent. Hughie scored with the jab because of the lack of movement by Parker.

Takam gave Joshua issues at first because of his constant head movement. Even with that, Joshua was able to land big shots and caught him with a counter that sent him to the canvas for a count.

Parker to me just doesn't seem to have that in him. He just looks like someone that is tough to bring down.

Joshua did fairly well for someone who was moving around a lot and not being a stationary target.

If I'm not mistaken, Parker likes to pursue his opponent and work to get on the inside. How is he going to do that against Joshua who has the reach to keep him at a distance and the power behind his right hook and right uppercut to have Parker thinking twice about coming up close?

Former 'belt holder' Bermane Stiverne was arguably better (and more accomplished) than Parker. Being a belt holder doesn't mean what it used to. Parker, because he's not a complete fool, would prefer to fight the easiest opponent for the most mone. Hence his eagerness to face Joshua. Parker knew who he wanted to fight when he saw Joshua go 'life and death' against old man Klitschko in front of a stadium full of fans.
Stiverne is better than Parker based on what? Even a prime Stiverne would struggle to argue that, he had one world level fight against Arreola to win the belt. The rest of his record is atrocious.

I'm well aware having a belt doesn't tell you much about their quality but my comment was directed at the inference that AJ is not fighting Parker for any reason but to pad his record. He is of course doing it for the money (and to unify the belts)...thats what all boxers do it for, it's their job, you can't call that greed, if anyone was offered more money for the same job they'd take it.

Wilder was never going to fight Parker and it wouldn't have been worth it since neither has any pulling power at the box office and the money wouldn't have been good enough, because one of them would fade into obscurity straight afterwards. But my point on this is that Wilder should have been chasing that belt but he of course didn't because???... well the assumption has to be he only wants easy work, he isn't that confident, he doesn't back up the bravado

Exactly, if AJ takes a Lennox style with Parker he'll be eating that hard jab all night and if he loses concentration for a moment, AJ will pop him with some hard hard shots

Parker will clearly give AJ a lot of trouble, if this blind midget can give him problems.
That 6' 2" 17 stone "midget" wasn't blind until AJ sliced his face up.

              Joshua v Parker

The UK fan base of Joshua hugely underestimate Parker. But the Parker camp are excited about this fight because they see plenty of weaknesses to be exploited in the Joshua armour. If Parker wins by KO don't be surprised.

Parker is a live dog against AJ, no doubt about that. I think he's going to give him a tougher fight than Wilder would.

I agree, he’ll also grab the opportunity with both hands and come with everything. I think by the end of 18’ AJ has beaten Parker in a solid but not amazing showcase 12 rounder and has KO’d Wilder inside 6 rounds, changing the order of things to reflect that technically Parker is better than Wilder. I know Wilder has lot of lovers on this forum but I don’t think when (eventually) he gets tested he’ll come through.

It’s even ridiculous wilder has got 40 fights and the marker we’re going to judge him on is fighting an old and fat Luiz who also hasn’t fought anyone...this is is not even a stay busy fight it’s his best opponent to date...crazy

Joshua Vs Parker is a good style match up for sure. Parker has said he will drop weight to try regain some speed he lost in the extra pounds he took into the Fury fight. I feel Joshua may do the same as Parker will be the quickest puncher he has come up against,Joshua will have to be a lot more mobile. Joshua is favourite of course but I feel Parker will know boxing conservative like he did against Ruiz will not see him win, he will risk getting K.O rather then fight that way...he won't get a points win that is for sure, all or nothing for Parker hoping Joshua gases.

Stivern won the title by beating Chris Arreola who was ranked in the top 3 by the WBC, just ahead of Deontay Wilder at the time. Arreola was also ranked in the top ten by the WBO & Ring Magazine at the time.
