Who's next in line to be a mainstream star?

No worries. Pac is the FIGHTER OF THE DECADE the award that only floyd can dreamed of. Loma is the future and face of boxing that make rigo the look like an amateur.

Anthony Joshua is that guy! His fight Purse and the crowd he Draws, nobody in American will match that anytime soon. Contract almost up with Showtime, he is going to get a Mayweather type of Network contract to show him exclusively on HBO or to keep him on Showtime for sure.
All that and he haven't even had his debut in America yet. Also throw in Social Media following 1.7 Million Followers on Twitter, 5.1 Million following on Instagram. Boxing next Crossover Superstar is already here!
I don't see a Crossover Superstar emerging in America anytime soon to be brutally honest. Canelo is the biggest star and Draw in America but but he is not a "SUPERSTAR" on the level of Mayweather or Pacquiao.Last edited by sicko; 12-23-2017, 02:36 PM.Comment

PBC has a healthy promotional budget and they do promote. I've seen many commercials for PBC. You said something ignorant and were called out for it. That's probably a common experience for you so learn to live with it and stop making a fool of yourself.Comment

So why isn't Errol Spence a household name? He's got this big backing of PBC, but nobody knows who he is?
What's the deal?Comment

Like I said, he doesn't have much backing. They should advertise this kid instead of just their brand. Their brand means almost nothing. People aren't going to tune in for PBC like they are going to turn in for UFC and I think that's where PBC is going wrong.
I understand it's not that simple though because the problem with boxing is the division amongst promoters. Haymon doesn't want to make stars, just to have them go fight for someone else. Still, I think there's a failure to push these guys. Look what Wilder has to do to get attention. It's ridiculous.Comment

He really really isn't.
He's a huge name in boxing, maybe a mainstream star in Mexico but he's not really known worldwide outside of that. Maybe he's known to some casual sports fans but crossing over to mainstream culture? not even close. Go walk down the street in almost everywhere and ask who he is..they won't know.
McGregor is a mainstream fighter, albeit if UFC. Pretty much everyone that pays attention to mainstream/popular culture knows who he is, whether they like the sport or not. Mayweather and Pacquiao were too for a while. Mayweather especially is now because of the Conor fight. Someone like Mike Tyson was a mainstream star that transcended boxing. Everyone knows who he is and what he did.
Joshua and Canelo are the same, mainstream figures in their respected countries but not part of mainstream culture across many countries. Not even close.Last edited by TheBigLug; 12-23-2017, 07:04 PM.Comment
