  • Mikey should be able to unify 140 now that Crawford has over up. This is a keep busy fight.

I think Mikey's move up to 147lbs will end up like Floyd's moves up to 154lbs; only for the right guy.

Same reason why I don't see Lomachenko going to 135lbs; skills are skills, but Robert Easter Jr is now standing there, with all of his 5'11 frame and another 16 months or so before his body forces the move up to 140lbs.

Yeah that's daring to be great. Lipinets would probably beat the Dog sh.it out of Postol who's fought 2 fights in 2 years and 5 in 4 years

I'm a Crawford fan but we don't know where he stands until he fights the best at 147 which given Top Ranks history probably won't happen

        Mikey/ Lipinets is a better fight then Crawford / Indongo/Diaz/Molina/Lundy /Dulhorme /Postol.
Gamboa fought at 135 before Crawford and continued to do so afterward. You saying this Lipinets fight is better than any of Crawford's wins at 140 means we have nothing further to discuss.

Unless he was having real issues with the weight, the Crawford move doesn't make sense.

Mikey looked for the best opportunity and took it; from the rumors, he was weighing fights against two IBF champions, and chose to fight Lipinets as the headline act on Showtime Championship Boxing, with the next Showtime almost set against his co-feature (as long as the fight isn't a snoozer).

Hilarious to see folks act as if Lipinets is some tickover
It was stated by Atlas and others that Crawford was having a hard time making 140.

“I know that he was struggling to make 140,” Arum told BoxingScene. “He had really a big problem making it for the last fight with Indongo, although it didn’t look like that in the ring. But I know that there was a question up until the actual weigh-in whether he would make weight." - Bob Arum

Ok, I can respect this. That said, overall these are rankings are very credible and respected, even if you disagree with some. Lipinets may not have much pro experience, but it’s not like he is a bum. He is solid. Mikey is just much better. He is also better than Easter and Linares.

We know why the Linares fight didn't happen, because Oscar wanted 50/50 when Linares barely drew 2k at the Forum. The Garcia's have a gym in San Antonio so he will do well there.
Quit lying out your ass! A little over 7,000 seats were sold for Linares last fight at the forum. Still not very good but way more than 2,000

Lipinets was the next fight, Prograis is chomping at the heels, you have some really good prospect coming along, Figueroa Jr had just started his comeback, and Mikey Garcia was just starting to dip his toes in at the weight.

You add that Top Rank has no welterweights for him to fight, and it's odd that Crawford left with at least 5-6 good fights still there to make.

Who did he duck? Lipinets is a much tougher fight than Linares who's made of glass. I would've preferred a Lomachenko or Easter Jr fight but I don't know what goes on behind the scenes, this isn't a bad fight at all. Lipinets is a solid fighter and much bigger than Mikey, I think this fight goes the distance

Reading this thread I think you are right that so many have no idea where Lipinets is ranked. I can understand those saying his resume is light. I can also understand disappointment that it isn’t a name more known like Easter or Linares at 135.

He is set to fight one of the top 3 or 4 jww in the world coming off beating Broner. To call this weak seems completely unfair.
