Joining Marvin Hagler and Bernard Hopkins. GGG has made himself an all time great at middleweight. He doesn't have to move up. You should fight at whatever weight you can make.
jermaine taylor was undisputed. WBC, WBA, IBF, WBO.

Also found it hard with Ward's ducking. Ward turned the fight down because he was "injured" and then went into litigation once he got out GGG already had a fight signed for a unification at middleweight and Ward just bounced and didn't care to stick around and thought he could piggyback of GGG name and the "duck" myth. GGG ran him out of the division. Why else would he say 160 for Floyd but 168 for GGG who had a fight signed anyway?

The career trajectory for GGG (and seemingly others hailing from the Soviet amateur boxing background) is a bit different.

A lot of these guys debut in the mid to late 20's and aren't really on the path to multiple weight classes. This is, in part, due to the fact that they are already fairly physically matured by the time they establish themselves in the pro ranks. It is also impacted by the relatively short window of their physical primes.

GGG has more interesting fights at 160, and he is finally getting them. Why run to 168? He is 35 and has enough competition at his own weight class, including rematches.

He can establish greatness at 160 with a few more good wins.

168 is a wasteland and 160 is hot right now. No need to move up.

What’s he gonna do at 168? It’s a pointless weak division And he’s too small for 175

He was ducking ward, why couldnt he fight ward at 168???? GGG can easily make that weight
No he has to do what he wants to do. He doesn't answer to you me or anyone else. The same as any other fighter. Some of these guys that dare to be great simply outgrew their division. Andre Ward for example stated he can't possibly make 168 any more so he moved up. Other guys moved up for more lucrative fights. Some guys move up to avoid other fighters in their own division. That Dare To Be Great mantra can be a pile of BS. I'm not saying it doesn't happen but that expression makes me laugh when it's used as a catch all.

He didn't unify the titles. Hopkings unified them and Taylor picked them up in one swoop.

Tons of all time great boxers never moved up but you are too much of an ignorant boxing moron to know that.
