As a whole, the boxing game has gotten worse in respect to dirty tactics, so he's just adapted to the boxing environment.

Holding, clinching, holding& hitting, leaning on fighters at the break, going in with your head, elbows, are rampant these days. Lennox Lewis did a ton of it, Klitchko kept it going, now it's the norm. Chris Byrd even won a belt with a jab that at times was a borderline backhand.

That's why when I see a bout that has minimal clinching, holding, good technique, and action, it's a rare treat.

I think it is worth noting that Lomachenko responds to dirty tactics in kind since his fight with Salido. He does not initiate dirty tactics to attempt to gain an edge.

There was very little wrong with the way Andre Ward fought throughout his career. People conveniently forget the Froch performance, the Abraham performance, and so on.

Ofcourse...there were many fighters that were "dirtier" than him in the same era...ones who weren't versatile, couldn't box well, and actually had to RELY on cheap tactics to hopefully win...

I was especially amused at how they said he was so bad in the Bika bout...knowing damn well Bika instigated it all and made it that kind of fight...Ward didn't take his crap and had him crying to the ref for help like a little b*tch...beating one of Boxing's most infamous bullies at his own game...

Ward could simply beat guys any which way he wanted to or had to...WITHIN the umbrella of the rules, and WITHOUT ever deserving to be DQed...

Nah, Loma ain’t dirty at heart. But he quickly became so as soon as he felt Rigo become dirty, and he put Rigo right back in his lane. Broke the guy mentally so bad, Rigo had to lie about an injury to quit...
