Honestly, I think that age was more important factor, and I've seen Lomachenko's interview in Russian and he confirmed my thoughts and said the age was more important than size. 5 years ago Rigondeaux would give Lomachenko hell at any weight, right now his reflexes and speed are gone, and gaining extra weight didn't help. His team was supposed to work on Rigo's stamina and speed instead of power

Second, Rigo doesn't have a good style to beat Loma, he throws single shots, loading up punches and that doesn't work well with dynamic fighters like Loma, especially if that fighter is a southpaw. It works with stationary targets like Donaire. Lomachenko knew he had to take away his left hand too

Third, gaining weight decreased Rigo's stamina, plus he's a fighter who's not used to do much in the ring, he's very economical with his movement, and smokes too from what I've heard. Loma's gameplan was to make Rigo work hard, get him tired with increasing the pace of the fight, I've said somewhere that Rigo's stamina will be very important in the fight and that's what happened

Not at any weight, even if they were the same size he'd still get toyed with.

Rigo is overrated and pretty one dimensional. No right hand.
