Shocking to see a professional boxer quit like that. Hell even if he had damaged his hand there have been numerous boxers who have fought and even won with a broken hand.

He quit because he was been embarrassed and had no answer to Loma, no other reason.

It was heartbreaking to see Rigo go out like that... I just rewatched the fight... He wasn't getting completely outclassed like a lot of people are saying... Basically there was a lot of awkwardness when Rigo would bend low and Loma would get in these little but harmless shots... But other than that Loma was barely landing...And Rigo was barely landing or getting hit with anything decent...

I think Rigo might of been a little shocked by Loma's speed (I actually thought Rigo would surely be the faster guy but Loma looked a little bit faster)

Something about that fight was fishy though. Rigo quits on his stool before even trying to up the intensity in one round? Doesn't make sense.. He got knocked down by other fighters only to get up with new fire....But in this fight (without taking ANY damage) he suddenly becomes so discouraged that he quits without even trying to kick things up a notch first? Something is rotten in denmark is all I'm saying. And I'm NOT saying that Rigo would of even won. But that he didnt even try to fight. Someone as competitive as Rigo suddenly fights incredibly apathetically and gives up on his stool... Seems off...Rigo seemed completely out of character.

Defense, jabs, body shots vs loma's pity-pats in the first round then rest of the fight Rigo just stood there. Weird....

Maybe loma was just feeling him out in the first round then turned up the pressure but loma didn't do anything in the first round so don't just give him the round cuz you wanted to.

Lmao. Ive watched 3 times. Maybe you should have someone explain it to you. Rigo was outclassed and completely fell apart and started golding like crazy lmao. All kinds dirty tactics. He got schooled, showed his true character, and then no mas. Simple as that.

What do you mean he was no longer the fighter he once was. Rigo never got to that portion of his career in order to say such a thing. His pro career was not a normal career, it did not have a typical beginning stage which he took at least 20 fights to learn the pro game( which is much different than the amateurs). The 2nd stage of his career would of entailed gaining a lot of pro experience and using that wisdom to become a dominant champion. Rigo's career simply stalled in the early stage of his pro career due to his pride, arrogance, stubbornness, bad judgement, and terrible management. He never made it out of that 1st stage of his career. The Donaire fight was supposed to be the ending of it, but instead he stalled after the Donaire fight then he regressed back to fighting low level, beginners type fights.

He never transitioned from an amateur boxer into a pro-boxer. He still views the pros as just a continuation of amateur style boxing. This is due to several reasons. 1 after all these yrs at the pro level he only has 17 fights. He was lucky to fight once a yr. This was because of bad management, refusal to change up his style, and fighters not wanting to risk fighting him.

So instead of saying he is no longer the fighter he once was or to paraphrase he is past his prime. It is as if Rigo had the beginnings of a pro career and then skipped right to the end of it without any middle portion which makes up a fighters prime. It is just sad how this happened. This happened to a lesser extent to Gamboa. It is happening to L. Ortiz. Cuban fighters seem to be the center of this kind of slow career suicide. This is systematic with former Cuban amateur fighters. No doubt growing up in a Communist system had a large role in their inability to make independent, wise career decisions.

What I mean is his physical attributes gave eroded from his prime.. Hand speed, foot speed, reflexes are diminished. Technique issues aside. I went back and watched footage of his amature fights.
