most trainers of the fighters you see on get around 10%, most managers take around 30%. there's a law in the US that says they can't take more than 33%, and that they can't act as both a promotor and a manager for the same fighter.

promotors typically pay fighters a purse, they don't "take a cut."


then they have to pay for expenses to train, travel, etc. and after they subtract all of those expenses from the purse, they pay taxes.


they'll be very lucky to see half of what they get in purses. some managers, haymon being the big one, pay fighters regardless of whether or not they fight. most young, top fighters get some kind of an allowance to train, bonus, housing, etc, if they're signed right out of the amateurs. otherwise you make very little money for a four rounder unless you're ray leonard.
