Lennox for me. Better wins at the sharp end, better on the eyeball test, more versatile.

Yeah Wladimir was the best of a bad bunch.

His chin and stamina issues would hinder him against the best of the best. I couldn't see him surviving against some of the top heavyweights of the 90's, including Lennox and Vitali.

He actually put together a hell of a career, and considering his limitations above, he managed to rebuild and become a dominant champion. His best win is Haye though, who was essentially a blown up cruiserweight, he may have decent height but Haye has a small frame and no physicality to him, in many ways he was tailor made for Wlad.

Klitschko was a master at using his physical advantages thanks to Manny Steward. Though he was past his best, you saw what happened when Wlad faced heavyweights of similar size, who had good ability, guys who could get to his chin, it was a different ball game.

He didn't have any defensive technique, and a lack of a defensive guard. So many times when under fire he would throw his arms out and take steps back, so essentially his reach and his feet were his defence. I think that was his biggest weakness and would have got him exposed more against elite heavyweights. He was overly dependent on clinching to nullify. Fighters who can only fight at one or two distances, are always more vulnerable than fighters who can fight at every distance, and have technique at every distance, but sometimes if that fighter is exceptional at that one distance, it takes an elite fighter to expose it.

Povetkin is a better win than anyone wilder has been near....
Wlad was in his best shape since 2009 and picked up one of his career best wins in late 2014 looking as dominant as ever vs Pulev. But suddenly he's old against Fury and AJ lol.

It's not unusual for a 3.5 year pro to get dropped early in their careers by journeymen let alone a former champion. Wlad was literally in that fight for about 3 rounds before AJ took over again and stopped him lmao.

I don't even count the Povetkin win, Wlad should've been DQ'd that fight. His boxing ability is complete shyt when he's not allowed to illegally hold and lean his 240lb body on his opponents.

          clearly lewis

better fighter and beat better fighters

wlads skill massively overrated, guy cant fight inside, and threw no body punches at all but had good speed and was tall, but at very elite level you need more than just physicality

holyfield that lost to lewis would have knocked wlad out

i wouldnt put wlad in my top 10 atg hw list

A lot of great boxers fight like that. They slow down their opponents momentum with clinches, it's a strategy. ward and floyd do it often as well(did). Pulev would have been beat by aj and fury, not that great of a win. When you're in your late 30's 3 years can be significant, those are the years athletes turn into old men

Honestly, if povetkin and joshua fought i don't even know who I would pick. Aj could get sparked, problem is povetkin is more like a cruiserweight

Pulev and povetkin need to fight AJ orwilder. Their great stepping stone fights.

If he's not in yyour top ten ATG that 's just straight bias. He was 6'6 with a jab and a thunderous straight right. He would have been a tough fight for a lot of those 5'10-6'3 heavyeight of old.

Lots of unsubstantiated nut-hugging + overrating of Lennox Lewis and underrating of Wladimir Klitschko is expected here. Most here can't even prove using ACTUAL facts as to how Lennox Lewis is the better heavyweight champion.

In most meaningful and relevant stat, Wladimir Klitschko outperforms not only Lennox Lewis, but any past heavyweight champion in history and by a decent margin as well. Everything else is utter speculation! Fact is, Wladimir Klitschko has performed better during his era of domination, against the best possible opposition he boxed against, compared to any other past heavyweight champion when they were also champions. Only the future would tell us whether someone could / would surpass Wladimir Klitschko's heavyweight record.

There is no boxer in history who wouldn't rack up at least 10 loses if he tried to go through Wlad's resume if he was forced to box that long.

Lewis boxed for 13 years, Wlad had a pro career of 21 years on top of winning a gold medal. Imagine if Lewis had to go through 7 more years and face the competition Wlad was facing. He would have like 15 losses. A 41 year old version Lewis would get murdered by 2017 version of Joshua.

Like I said, NOBODY in the history of boxing wouldn't go through Wlad's resume without at least 10 loses.
