I'm not a Cotto fan, but hopefully people will look back and remember that he was a pretty good fighter.
i want to know who marquez beat outside of Pacquiao. He went life and dead with katsidis and Alvarado. lost to bradley, got schooled badly by floyd, beat a past prime barrera. never faced morales. I mean wtf did he do?

Cotto had a great career but it's hard to ignore how big of a diva he became after Pacquiao. However every fighter gets like that at a certain point so whatever. It was just a difficult pill for a lot of us to swallow because he was always viewed as a throwback warrior so seeing him talk about A side and whatnot ******.

        Don't kid yourself.

Cotto is taking his last fight, and seems to earnestly be ready to walk away from the sport, so folks are giving him props on his way out.

Miguel Cotto is on his way out; there's no reason to **** on Cotto as he heads out of the door.

To try and act as if Cotto would still be getting all of this love were he not leaving the sport is dumb.

Cotto is still the same guy who surrounded a good matchup against Alvarez with fights against folks like Kamegai, Delvin Rodriguez, Daniel Geale (full disclosure, I did rate Geale as a good fighter, but the Golovkin performance may have shown that he was getting passed it by that point), and a welterweight fighter who isn't even earnestly seen as one of even the 10 best welterweight fighters.

If Cotto wasn't retiring and was simply fighting Ali to set up his next defense at 154 (Liam Smith is the WBO's top rated challenger) for PR Day parade weekend in NYC, folks would be talking about the setting up of the third straight cherrypick after fighting Alvarez, rather than the career eulogy.

            More than Cotto.

Either way fight with Mosley, either way fight with Clottey, shot Martinez.

            That's Cotto's career.

              Really?
Beat MargoCheato, Mosley, Zab, Clottey (headbutted cotto early that's the only reason d fight was close) Malinaggi, Sergio, Chop-chop Corley,Torres, the man had a great career.

Never beat an A level fighter clearly. His best wins all have ? beside them.

Marquez is head and shoulders above him.

Didn't go life and death in those fights though did he? He probably lost one round in each. Those fights were mostly Marquez landed hard counters and dominating with his combinations.

Barrera was past prime sure but a reigning and defending champion ranked in all pound for pound lists (higher than Cotto ever was in his prime even) and was on good form off the back of excellent wins. That win is better than any Cotto win as Cotto never defeated a reigning champion the caliber of Barrera. Martinez was a good fighter but remember he had a bum knee hadn't fought in over a year and was very lucky to get the W in Argentina over Murray.

Casamayor and Diaz were excellent wins too.

Cotto went life and death with Torress and Clottey though. He was also schooled by Austin Trout and Sadam Ali.

Cotto had an excellent career was such a fun fighter and is a surefire HOFer but no need to **** on a fighter of Marquez' caliber to elevate Cotto. He was very good, Marquez was great.
