You ignored the most important part probably because it doesn’t fit your agenda. Can you read? Where did I say he would be world class? Lmao. That’s not even the point of my post. We’re talking about Bivol-Jack just so you knowComment

Exactly. If Kovalev can't get Beterbiev in his next fight, Badou Jack is the next biggest fight (besides Stevenson who wont fight him). Main Events wants the Badou Jack fight badly for March. So if Jack cant get Stevenson on that date, he could still get over 1 mil to fight Kovalev, and then if he wins, the Stevenson payday would be even bigger. So if Jack isn't fighting either Stevenson or Kovalev by March, that's a duck. Or Bivol, but that would be for less money.Comment

It seems that the idea that if any fight whatsoever is not the biggest available payday, it's not considered a duck, has become the norm among many boxing fans, even if a great fight is being avoided in order to fight a terrible one. If Canelo refuses to fight GGG, but fights Chavez Jr instead, for example, because the Chavez Jr fight is worth 2% more (which didnt even turn out to be the case, just an example), then many fans will proclaim that that isn't a duck, even though Canelo-Chavez was a mismatch and GGG-Canelo was the fight people wanted to see.
The thing about this, though, is that it assumes the boxer will lose. For example, Jack shouldnt fight Bivol yet because he can get more money vs Stevenson, and since he either could or will lose to both of them, he needs to take the one for most money, as if it will be his last fight.
Except, many people on here think Jack would win. So how does that make sense? It's contradictory. Yes, you will make less to fight Bivol, but if you are actually confident you would beat Bivol, then you would fight him anyway, get that belt, and turn the Stevenson fight into a unification for double the money. You get two sizeable paydays instead of one, and you double the money in the second one.
For example, Jack fighting Nathan Cleverley was worth a lot less money, probably no more than a Bivol fight, and yet he took it. So if you are willing to fight Cleverley for say 700k, but not Bivol, how can you say it's about the money? The money is the same. The difference is you're not confident you can beat Bivol, which would **** up future fights, but you were confident you could beat Cleverley. So how is that not a duck, even if Bivol is worth less than Stevenson? Bivol is still a bigger payday for Jack than 90% of the fights he's taken in his career. He was willing to take those because the opponents were easier, but not Bivol because he's dangerous. So again, how is that not a duck?
Let's look at it another way. Bivol has the belt now. He is champ. He could make a lot of money fighting bums, rather than someone dangerous like Jack, build up his name, and then only ever fight someone good when it's a big PPV fight in the future. And yet he wants Jack, now, immediately, on HBO. How does that make sense? If Bivol is willing to fight Jack now even though it's low money and he's champ, but Jack is not willing to fight Bivol for the same money even though Bivol has a belt, how is that not a duck?
It's not as simple as "he can get more money elsewhere." If he thought he could beat Bivol, then he could get good money vs Bivol, and even MORE money vs Stevenson afterwards. The key part of this is not the money, but the clear implication that Jack is not confident he could beat Bivol, whereas Bivol is so confident he could beat Jack that he is willing to fight him in his very first title defense on regular HBO.Comment

Jack is signed to Mayweather Promotions, they fight smart and for money fights. Jack has faced Cleverly, DeGale, Groves, Bute and Dirrell his last fights. That's some quality right there. He ain't ducking Bivol he just wants those big money fights. Don't blame him.Comment

Exactly, shows how clueless some people are. Cleverly ok he isn't elite but he is a former world champ. Are people gonna then start talking s*** on Bute, Dirrell, Groves or DeGale? Jacks opponents are elite, the keyboard warriors should get off it.Comment
