Jack's resume shows that he's no coward, but I hope he has a Plan B for Stevenson! I would love to see Jack vs. Marcus Browne, but does Browne bring more money than Bivol? I doubt it!

It might be a duck or simply that the boxer and his team miscalculated or misread a situation (for example, the ability to land a fight against Stevenson).

Bivol is being too nice to Jack. This was a blatant duck. What did he stand to gain from fighting Cleverly if he gains nothing from Bivol?

Also, he was gonna be fighting Bivol for the WBA title wasn't he? Wouldn't that have made his fight with Stevenson bigger and therefore worth more money if he was bringing a belt with him to make it a unification?

Also Stevenson is lined up to face Alvarez for a mandatory defense, so it's not like he can fight Stevenson right away. Fighting Bivol for the WBA while Stevenson defends his WBC against Alvarez would have made much more sense, especially if they put it on the same card. Then the winners meet in a unication showdown.

The only thing that doesn't make sense, financial or otherwise, is Jack dropping his title.

Well, it only makes sense if he's ducking, which he obviously is. There was much more to gain from having this fight than not having it. He wasn't confident he would win and pulled out, plain and simple.

Bivol is too nice for his own good.

this is 100% spot on the only problem is that this same logic isnt applied to all fighters equally. Some guys get a pass and some dont. Apply this logic to guys like Wilder, Pac, May, GGG, Canelo, Joshua, etc. & fan boys will be up in arms. Well, at least all the crybabies on this forum

Calm down. Why tf would Badou Jack duck him for? Did you see the last guy Bivol fought lmao. Hate to let facts ruin your Bivol love fest but.....

Surely Bivol knows this also but he has to play like he doesn’t. He knows that meaningless title was given to him by Fast Eddie

You already know this though. ATM Bivol is a bum. No one is ducking him.

Jack is 34 years old.... How much more time does he have?? He is in the $ making faze of his career - a cut, broken hand, cracked ribs, broken jaw etc sets you back big time at that age... The word duck is used to freely on this site... Boxers train for decades to be at this level, no one is scared - sometime you need your team to hold you back and talk some sense into you..

Well i agree with that too, but that's how it goes on forums. People are always going to give a pass to the fighters they like and slate others for the same reasons.

I also think a lot of people don't know how to differentiate ducking from a logical business move. It doesn't always mean a fighter is scared. Bivol here is basically saying he understands why Jack wouldn't want the fight. I'm sure Bivol himself knows he needs to keep doing what he's doing and raise his profile and those fights will come anyway.

I think it's very easy to see when a fighter is actually ducking, because there's no logical reason why the fight isn't happening
