Guillermo Rigondeaux (17-0, 11 KOs) is taking a major risk when he steps in the ring with WBO super featherweight champion Vasyl Lomachenko (9-1, 7 KOs)on December 9th at The Theater in Madison Square Garden in New York City. Rigondeaux, who is regarded as the WBA's "super" champion at 122-pounds, will move up by two full weight divisions to take on Lomachenko at 130-pounds.

What type of permission is this? He's in hence defending his title 2 weight classes above the limit. Makes no sense. WBA is becoming a joke of a governing body

Anything to try and uncrown him as champion. WBA needs to go away or fighters just need to dump those joke belts. All the others are bad but WBA looking like the worst at the moment.

He was ordered to make a mandatory defense and instead will move up by two weight divisions to fight Lomachenko. In most cases the boxer would have been stripped once he made the move.

At first I thought it was a fucked up move by the WBA but now it makes sense

5 days to decide seems awfully short. I thought there was a 2 week policy for these sort of decisions, or maybe I'm getting boxing orgs mixed up again.

I guess they will make him a mandatory challenger of some kind. In that case Rigondeaux should have no problems winning his title back. It could also give him some positive publicity and promotion.

He was order to make a mandatory defense, against a guy who took a dive against him 5 months ago.
