If its just a fracture I think the answer is just rest and many a boxer has come back too soon and then the issue gets worse - him being out a year would allow him to rest up well as his style will mean his career is more short-lived than some

This is what I was thinking, don't they know he's called 'One Time' because he fights once a year? And it certainly ain't gonna be against Porter in 2018.

        I think it's a good strategy.

Clearly, he's injured and wasn't going to fight for at least another 9 months or so anyway, so late next or early '2019 is about the right time and place for what amounts to somewhat of a cash out fight.

        He's not beating Spence.

        He already lost to Brook.

So, why not wait for one more big Barclay Center payday with Thurman and when he that's a tough fight that he either loses or gets a close win in, and either angles for a 3rd fight or moves on.

Porter will be on the sidelines and inactive for awhile then... I guess Granados roughed Shawn up those last few rounds for them to be talking like this. Granados has a hard head. Porter hit him flush with bombs and Granados ate them up and fractured Porter. Granados broke the hand physically and Shawn began to look very vulnerable mentally late in the fight.

Just checked the rankings, Porter is ranked #1 but he's not ranked as Thurmans Mandatory. I think his father is saying this because DSG is ranked #2, and he may think WBC will have them fight for the silver which would make the winner the mandatory. It seems to me that Ken Porter don't want that fight.

If anyone deserves a rematch with Thurman it is Porter. Garcia hasn't done anything since his loss. Porter is fighting live dogs and stepping up while other challengers are looking for easier opponents.

Curious who will get the call to fight Thurman in Feb/Mar.
