Comments Thread For: Wilder: I Won't Need a Rematch After I Beat Joshua Brutally

It figures Wilder would talk shit wrong. He should have said that he'll beat Joshua so badly that AJ will say never mind to a rematch. But deep down he knows that's not true, hence he couldn't bring himself to speak it.

This will be America's best vs Britain's best. If we turn back the hands of time to the golden era of the heavy weight division this would be the equivalent of Mike Tyson vs Frank Bruno. The brit got severely knocked out.

He can take any of the above fights along with a mandatory or two over the next two years whilst building anticipation for a showdown with Wilder on his terms. Unification would be a big story, but Joshua is in a strong position and he can therefore decide when he wants to pursue it. You, me or others may not like this, but it's the reality of the heavyweight world at present. There's one superstar in this division and he's calling the shots.
For what it's worth Wilder and Joshua are clearly the two best fighters in the division and until they meet there will always be a question mark over the others credentials. As a fan I'd love to see them get to it but if I were Joshua I'd leave Wilder until I'd had a couple more fights in massive stadia, he's still relatively raw and will benefit from the experience of putting away Parker for instance.
As boxing is ultimately a business, the commercial interests will likely prevail. That means that either Wilder reduces his price to the point that the risk / reward equation is in favour of the fight or he has to wait and continue to try and build his own following in the US and make his commercial case as strong as his sporting one.

Hearn is “planning to take over boxing in the US.” You think AJ won’t be at the Jacobs fight? Who do you think the boxing media is going to ask him about? Pulev gtfoh.
Having said all of that, it takes two to tango. And am pretty sure Wilder next fight is already set in stone with Breazeale.

That fight has already been built up here over the last few fights. They have shown the Wilder fight live on here too. So they are not going to hound him or criticise him like Americans did with Mayweather, they know that fight with Wilder would happen and they know it’s a process. The only place Joshua would get any sort of “hounding” would be if he fights in America and they ask him after the fight about Wilder which they have the right to do.

Doesn’t matter because most of the American boxing media doesn’t really care about Wilder, he gets more play from those smart British fans over here than he doesn’t from those dumb American fans/media like Fat dan who couldn’t care less about American boxers.

Maybe if American fans says it enough it would be true in their mind, but until American media/fans start supporting their own then no one is going to hound anyone, American fans/media were even hounding their own fighter in Mayweather and backing the foreigner in Pacman..... that says it all really.
