Stiverne's Trainer: Doctor Told Me Stiverne's Dehydration Level Was Close To Death!

Stiverne's trainer talks about his experience after the first Wilder fight when it was discovered following tests at hospital that Stiverne's dehydration level was verging on near-death levels! Will Stiverne's new found understanding and respect of hydration dramatically change the look of the rematch with Wilder tonight?

There are plausible scenarios where a heavyweight could become dehydrated. Stiverne said that he never drank water, instead opting for energy drinks much of the time which are high in caffeine content. It's well known that if someone drank almost exclusively energy drinks, and never supplemented with water, they could easily become dehydrated > https://www.livestrong.com/article/3...energy-drinks/

        Dehydration

Another side effect of Monster Energy Drinks is dehydration. Amy Peak, an assistant professor at Butler University’s College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, reports that the combination of caffeine and guarana in energy drinks can lead to dehydration. According to Brown University, the caffeine in energy drinks acts as a diuretic and can leave you severely dehydrated if you do not replace the water that is lost; this is particularly concerning if you are exercising and sweating. If you are using Monster Energy Drinks as a pre-workout dietary supplement, make sure you are properly hydrated before training and replacing lost fluid by drinking water during training.

And you would think a professional athlete like Stiverne doesn't know basic stuff like that who is surrounded by nutritional experts? I don't like Wilder but I would know when to give credit and Stiverne deserve to be branded as a clown and one of the worst Heavyweight champion in the last 60 years.

To be fair to him it's not like fat people can't get dehdrated it's fluid balance. Can be effected by not taking enough water, insensible loss through sweat, poo. Raised blood sugar meaning urine being dumped.

think this hydration excuse has got to be the worst excuse ive ever heard, especially considering its a heavyweight.

Stiverne didn't have any nutritionists during the Wilder camp for the first fight. He basically took care of his own nutrition. We might think hydration is "basic stuff" on the surface but there is a prevailing theory that a lot of illnesses, across the entire spectrum, are actually caused by dehydration although patients are rarely given the diagnosis of "dehydrated". But there are a lot of people out there that still don't realise a carbonated beverage, like an energy drink or a Coke, isn't the same thing as water.
